The spirit soul is the basis of the body or in other words if the spirit soul is not present in the body the body is of no use. Thus when the spirit soul leaves the body, the body is called dead.
When the spirit soul enters a body, body is said be born.
Spirit soul is eternal, ever existing and is never dies even after the temporary, destructible body dies.
The external temporary body is like a garment one wears and just as when the garment and becomes old and unusable one wears a new dress, similarly when the body becomes old and invalid one accepts a new body.
Reading second chapter of Bhagavad-gita will help you to understand clearly, what Jesus Christ only hinted about it in the bible when he said, "What profiteth a man if he gains the whole world but loses the spirit soul".

Yes there is Soul after Death. There had been many experiements abroad.
Once the dying person was kept in the glass. Not even air would go out or come inside. When this person died then there was checking. One found a very light crack on the glass.
Soul is neither burnt or killed etc. Once the person dies the soul takes another birth as per his or her karma. Else just think why one is suffering ? Why one lacks something ? Why one is evergaining happiness ?
Each one of us want to do best. Why all are not beautiful or handsome ?
Why some are handicapped from birth ?

Reason is the translations are done as said by God. Not any author has explained from their own understandings.

Soul is made up of the energy derived from all noble thoughts and ideals. All individual souls are part of the Supreme Soul. Soul will probably last as long as this universe.

We have souls while we are alive also. But I know what you mean. So, I believe Life goes on after death.

yes, there is and that is true! thats why while we are still allive have faith and trust our god, and love other people, ask the lord for the forgiveness of our sins to make our soul shall go to heaven.

It is the Soul that which finds 'living' and 'dying'.
An inert body/substance cannot feel or live.
