1 of my dogs routinely chews/gnaws/breaks through our screened in porch. 5 times in the last month. I have made several barriers, put both of them in kennels, yet during their time out of the kennels one will repeatedly find a way off the porch. It is extremely frustrating and my wife wants to get rid of them. I can't handle that.

Anytime you can not watch them crate them. You can use a long lead tied to your leg to keep them close. They should not be given a chance to do this.

I am a firm believe that the humans allow the dogs you are in charge and just like a child pets need to be supervised

Why are your dogs outside and kenneled? Try bringing them inside and letting them be apart of the family. What would you do if you were bored out of your mind? Humans aren't the only ones who get bored. When dogs get bored, they become destructive. Isn't this fun? Go and interact with your dogs and quit keeping them outside! Exercise and play time might be a good idea. How can you say you can't handle your dogs being given away but you're happy to leave them outside? Alone.

Oh, I do understand the frustration. We had a pug that went through plexiglass to get out after the mail man. Now that is determination. Now, i have a four month old Ridgeback who goes out with the other dogs, and if my attention is not on him, or I go in the house for any reason, ie, to get a drink or go to the bathroom, he is at our back door whining and pushing on the screen.
I had to do the same thing to him i had done to the other dogs. When he starts whining and pushing on the screen, i go to the big door and shut it. This lets him know that this is not working.
Now, I know this sounds ugly, but do you wanna keep replacing your screen? Chicken wire. Put it on the inside of the porch making it harder to get to the screen. Make sure the guage of the wire matches the bread of the dog, and this is not real expensive, but will save you in the long run screen replacement money.
Also, make sure you are spending lots of time with your puppy and giving them interactive toys and chew toys that they love. Kongs stuffed with peanut butter and frozen are wonderful. You can even mix in some of the kibble to give it added benefits. (best to make sure the peanutbutter is all natural with no high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweetener... toxins to people and dogs)
best wiches to you...

Have you tried a child-expandable gate? Might work. If your wife wants to get rid of the dogs, they would probably be better off in a loving home. If she can get rid of them that easily, she doesnt want them.

You may want to try putting up lattice work, it is relatively cheap and holds up well. This may not work if it is a larger dog. You may also want to thoroughly check the screen for holes.

Maybe bring them in the house? Quit kenneling them all the time and start interacting with them a little more? Exercising them?
