My mate has gone off on his hols and left me his pooch, lovely little feller. But yesterday he started draggin his butt across the floor, I texted his owner who tells me I have to drain the dogs glands.....the ones around his @rse. Just squeeze them like a spot he says........Feeling sick, could you do it?

Leave him alone for now but if he keeps doing it Take it to the Vet, it's not something an inexperienced person should do! Keep the receipt and make his owner pay you back as it costs between £10 - £20.The dog could react badly to you doing it and perhaps bite. How would you like a stranger(however well meaning) mauling you around?
I wouldn't do it to any dog but my own!

No, if you don't know how to express his anal glands, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. Take the dog to the vet and get them to express them for you. If a vet isn't available, any dog groomer will do it for you. Very cheap, around $15-$20 if a professional does it for you. It smells a lot and liquid comes out, not something someone who has never done it, should do it. If there is no smell coming from his anus, he could also have worms.

Needing to have their anal glands emptied which is what it sounds like this dog needs is something that is fairly routine for a lot of dogs but you should not attempt it yourself unless you have been shown how.

So no I would not attempt it as much for the dogs sake as yours I have never had to have it done for my dogs but I have been told that what is produced is disgusting and smells even worse!

Tell your friend that you will take the dog to the vet and he can pay the bill or he can come home now and do it himself....

NO! If your have never expressed the dogs anal glands before do not attempt it your self. Get the dog to the vets or to a groomer to have it done. It is a very messy and stinky job. It is not expensive to have a professional do this for you.

The dog is smarter than the owners. Its dragging its behind cuz the anal glands are plugged and need to be extracted. If its gross to you, and believe me it stinks, then take it in to the vet and they can do it quickly for no more than 25.00.

Yes I can and have done it, but I was trained to do it, do not attempt to do this yourself, take the dog to the vet or a professional dog groomer, then give your friend a few choice words when he gets back!!

You can't just do it, you need to know where and how. I could tell you but wouldn't you need to take him either to a vet or some groomers do it. If he's not in great discomfort and it's not too long wait till your mate comes back.
No, although I know how I couldn't/wouldn't do it.

Not without being SHOWN how. Done improperly could injure the dog. I usually just take mine in and the vet tech does it. It does not cost that much, about $20.00

No. I'd have the vet or the groomer do it. It's VERY disgusting. It's called expressing their anal glands if you want an auctual name for it.
