Any Church that believes firmly in God would welcome these people with open arms and not judge them. As far as people wearing their Sunday best to show off, it's not what's on the outside that saves you, it's whats on the inside that counts.

My Grandfathers have come from an islamic country fleeing of war and PERSECUTION, to another country.
And of course they became homeless and unkempt, but just the church had received them without any hesitation or any conditions.
But today we go to the church with new clothes and good looking, why not, we are no more homeless, but that doesn't mean that the church don't receive unkempt homeless people, it did last year with lebanese, muslims or christians, in the last israel-leban war.
And unfortunately there are some priests don't do that, but they are so little.

Some Church's unfortunately are like that. Social clubs for those who want to make a good appearance. Some Church's though are different, I go to church every Sunday in my jeans and baseball hat,sit next to a man that is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict. Our church has a deacon that wears jeans and a camo shirt, one of our musicians wears flip flops in the summer and shorts. We are there to study the word of God, not to impress. We have Doctors. Lawyers and the lawyers clients. A mission farm for troubled adults we support has members attending every week. Come as you are and you will be welcome

In theory, homeless people are welcome in churches. However, when I was homeless, only one church allowed me to enter to worship (at that time I was a Christian), and that was the First Baptist Church in Nashville, TN.
In the end, most churches don't practice what they preach, and yes, most could be considered fashion shows, because men and women only go to show off their fancy clothes.

I know what you mean....it took me a while to find the church I go to...one time I was in a hurry and threw on some "nice" cloths to make it to a church I wanted to "try out"....I didn't have a suit or tie on and the usher looked me up and down and kind of shoved the program sheet at me with a nasty look.......I've never stepped in that church again......I look for a church were anyone and I mean ANYONE would feel comfortable walking into.....

I believe that as a Christian we should present ourselves as a Christian & dress like one, But if a homeless person do not have anything except the clothes on his body, Yes, he is welcome, But if a person is known to have more, then I feel like they should dress better, Another thing you may not know, That many homeless people is not really homeless, I forget exactly what city this happen in, I want to think Chicago, They had found a homeless man froze to death & come to find out he had $54,000 in the bank. Makes you wonder does it.

There is nothing in the scriptures that say what one must wear to church. As a member of the LORD's CHURCH we should honor the FATHER as we see HE deserves and worship HIM as we see the First Century Church Members did. Those who attend our services as guests are taken out to lunch by one or more of our members or the preacher no matter what they wear or who they are. We live in a small community and always welcome guests to our services. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you,
Eds, Christian

Of course they would be welcome. I am covered with tattoos, have hair half way down my back, wear Blue Jeans and a tee Shirt, and use to be the Satan's Right Hand man, but I was welcomed with open arms at the church. It is what is INSIDE , (your heart) that is what counts, and Christ sees the inside of a person. He is a Heart Knower and nothing can be hid from Him.

They would at my church. Becuase you know what, God created all human beings and He wants us to help those who are struggling. Doesn't mean we can be easily taken advantage of and that's where some people's misconception comes in at. But they could walk in our church doors and be treated as well as the nicest dressed person there.

They should be welcomed like any other person. The church is not a social club and must never have the standards of one.
