from fossil fuel burning e.g. burning coal/natural gas/petroleum - incomplete combustion causes carbon monoxide to form
smelting of metals - sulfur is released and it forms a variety of compounds in the atmosphere that react with water to produce sulfuric and sulfurous acids - cause acid rain
Carbon dioxide from the burning of coals - is not in balance with the amount plants use in photosysnthesis - global warming - traps heat energy from the sun
plastics - non biodegradable- made from hydrocarbons - produced by the petrochemical industry
nitrogen dioixide reacts with water to produce nitric acid. This is produced in areas of high temperatures such as in car exhust pipes. The oxygen and nitrogen fuse together. The nitrogen dioxide reacts with water forming an acid or it can cause photochemical smog - which can cause major respiratory problems
theres a lot more
u can do more of the research e.g. google it

I will tell you why. Every few years my family takes me to the Florida Keys to see the Reef. 10 years ago we could go snorkeling anywhere off the island and see the coral reefs. In 2009 we went again, and the reefs were GREY AND DEAD. We asked why the reefs were dead and they said that the sugar cane fields in south Florida have lots of pollution/pesticides. This is very real!
