A scary guy.

When I was in Sunday school we were always scared of him.

I don't remember why, really. Could have been the mean nuns.

The Old Testament and the New Testament do not seem to have something in common. i.e. Moses (or Osarshiff), says "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." Jesus says "if someone hits you on the left cheek turn to him your right cheek too." There are many other examples (e.g. adultery, divorce et.a.), that Jesus does clearly disagree with Yahweh. So, what Jesus calls as Father is not Yahweh of the Old Testament, but someone else, which is the Real Father. It is this Real Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holly Spirit that are one and undevided (The Holly Trinity).

From what I understand way back in Abraham's day each nomadic family had their own personal God. Abraham's god was a vindictive little sod called Yahweh.
Anyhows because Abraham talked one on one with his family God his neighbors were impressed and started talking to him too.
But the found Yahweh would only talk to Abraham so engendering a Priestly power structure!

Any way over the years Yahweh had a few favorites and did a lot of smiting especially of sodomites, Yahweh loved to smite sodomites!
Then we came to a time when Yahweh decided to retire then hand over to his son.
His son was much more moderate but was inclined to annoy his mates. So much so his best mate turned him in to the authorities but that's another story......

In my opinion, he is portrayed as a sadistical, vengeful person. You need only read a few stories such as Noahs Flood (killing everyone in the world because of their sins) and turning people into salt for their sinful ways to have that verified.

ASK A QUESTION ABOUT GOD AND THEN laugh your butt off? and say dont answer long from the book that you asked an answer from=the Bible.

"Jesus wept" the gospel of John for the peoples lack of faith-trust.
compassionate, a true friend, one that doesnt even mind if you laugh at him.

I am born Jewish taught by my Jewish mom "David, Jesus is a liar and deciever dont ever have anything to do with him."

John 3 repented of my sins that I had laughed at, and let Jesus into my heart to be my friend, and got born again as he asks-now Jesus is my best friend. amen. as promised by Him in Revelation 3verses 19&20

what kind of Jesus do you want portrayed-the one that Judas and his followers today betray???

May the precious blood of Jesus bind the evil one that captivates your mind and release truth to you so you may believe too. prayin for you princess to be the best, David

A God that will one day tell you exactly who he is!!! Please don't miss out on your mansion by rejecting the one God that will give you eternal blessings. No Bible quote here just someone that is worried about your eternal soul.

i think that god is portrayed in parables talking about his role in the world by looking to the stars.
in the old testiment god is seen by following the zodiac, and it is used to help us understand it and in the new testiment it is not god, but jesus who is portrayed in saying that we need not fear natural disaster anymore, for man will always overcome.

it is much more complex then this, but it is the general understanding.

Richard Dawkins describtion of 'GOD':
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-wcG3yoSAdk
I've got nothing to add to that.

I've found the quote:
“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

A God who is righteous and who always punishes sin and wrong-doing to the full extent. One who is unbelievably powerful. One who is driven by love. He likes structure and has set in place a natural order. He's constant and unchanging. He's full of grace. Perfect knowledge and wisdom. Incredibly patient. He's indescribable.
