Are women more powerful than men? The Bible says so....do you?

Question

Science tells us that a woman can last longer without food than a man...must be very strong creatures, these women!

The Bible tells us that when Adam was alone in the garden of Eden, he obeyed God but when he was with Eve in the same garden, he obeyed Eve......must be very powerful creatures too, these women!

The foregoing scientific finding and religious story implicitly say that ladies are more powerful than men...

I would say no because I am a man and dont believe in the Adam Eve story nor the findings by science( perhaps the reseacher was a lady and her findings were biased?.)..but in real life isnt that true....that women generally are more powerful than men?

i think men are much more powerful then women. people say men would not be able to endure labour, well we will never know men can't have babies, that's a weak argument. men are obvious more strong and powerful, despite what some women pushing the feminist agenda may think or say.

In order for an entity to have power over another it suggests that one must be weaker, or harness a weakness.

I don't even think Adam is portrayed as obeying Eve. I see Adam as acting on his own curiosity which had been intensified by the presence of another, someone with whom he could dicuss this with, and who also shared his curiosity. The fact that Eve is a woman here is surely irrelevant. At this point they had no understanding of the gender differences, surely? So, the weakness Adam and Eve both share is curiosity. Apparently it killed a cat or something..

It's interesting that Adam and Eve appear like children in this story.. and that knowledge is portrayed as being negative thing- or perhaps it is disobeying the parent-like authority of God that is the issue.

Does the story promote ignorance in order to establish some kind of social order, or does it recognise that with more knowledge comes consequences.. outcomes which can be judged as being positive or negative. Outcomes the participants will then be responsible for, which can be a heavy burden to bear.

And here we have the problem: people often shy away from responsibility and the blame game surfaces, so Adam's free choice becomes his weakness. Eve has in some way seduced his mind with ideas and now is seen as being responsible for his actions. It's quite a delusion.

I wouldn't say more powerful as we are suppose to be the weaker of the two sexes according to the Bible. I would say that we are stronger in some ways and can do things a man can't do such as having babies. I worked labor and delivery and believe me when I say that most men would not be able to endure what a woman does when those labor pains hitl So no we are not more "powerful" unless a man allows a woman to be a controller which in my way of thinking means powerful. There are some things God meant for women and some things meant for men. If Adam had not been such a whimp, then he would not have eaten that piece of fruit, but even though punished, God forgave

It's because men's bodies are more powerful that it takes more energy to operate them and that's why we need more food and can't last as long. I think men need about a third more calories than women in a day. I don't know where you're getting the obeying Eve thing. If someone goes, hmm this fruit tastes good, try a piece, it hardly means he's under the thumb. Let's quit this battle of the sexes thing and understand that we're equal but different and good for each other.

Never underestimate the power of woman. In the Bible there is a book called 'Sophia' - the Book of Wisdom where the wisdom of God is reffered to in feminine imagery. In other Old Testament writings God's wisdom is a 'she'.

Whether you believe in the bible or what science observes, it does not take much to figure out that male and female are composits of one unity - humanity - and that both have strengths and weaknesses.

Do not be biased towards niether the male nor the female because each complinents the other. The world has seen great achievers both in power and intellect coming from both men and women.

The right model is one where their unity consists of each gender who is characteristically different. This is not to say that there are no anomalies and variants in nature.

Think of humanity which is constituted of a wonderful community of men and women whose differnces work out to the advantage of both.

In my opinion there is non more powerful than the other because in their own way they are both powerful.

Women can last longer without food than men. Men suffer far less from depression than women. We can argue forever and ever who is "better" becasue of petty differences or we can just accept that we need each other to form a good society. Besides, with respect to the men on here, in most cases women are the ones oppressed by men, not the other way round.

That verse in the bible means that women have suggestive power over men by their beauty, and so men must take care not to fall into their trap. If women were truly more powerful according to the Bible they'd say that men could use their beauty to get presents from women... I don't think so.

My bible tells me that woman are the weaker sex. Eve was the first sinner. God speak about woman harlets and the way of woman. He calls them murders, thiefs, decivers and the list is extencive. Woman are wicked in this act, murdering even there own children in the womb, murdering there own children after birth, the woman of this hour are like dogs in the street looking for their next victum. Whores abound in this nation. Woman change men like socks. Are woman stronger No they are greater sinners then men by far, they will do anything to get there way. No moral and no shame. actually the bible blamed women for most of the problems in the world. Delilah cut off samson's hair, Eve ate the fruit of knowledge first, Jezabelle, (that girl), it was few and far between that a woman was represented in positive light until the new testament.

The old testament even had a verse that stated a woman shall never discuss the scriptures with man.
