As has already been said, you need to scan your document using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software.
Here's a link to one of the very few free ones. It's called SimpleOCR v3.1, and it can scan to both Word and WordPerfect document files.
I've never actually used the programme myself as I have a paid for one, but from what I've read, it sounds as though it will do the job for you.

Yes there is .In fact there are two ways that i know of.First depending on the type of scanner u use just before you scan there r options as to where you want the document to be scanned to i.e to a removable media ,a folder on C: e.t.c then you have the option to scan to a word document choose this option and your scanned document should open in word then you can edit it. Better still you can just scan de doc. then you right click on it in the location it was scanned to -edit using ms-word. I think it should work.Goodluck

on your Scanners software (on your computer) check if it has an option to either scan it in as a word document or a pdf file, if it will let you scan it in as a word document you just open the scanned file and it might need some fixing (not always perfect scan) but still less typing than to type the whole thing...
and with the PDF, open it in adobe reader (formally acrobat reader) and copy all of the information you need and paste it into a new word document.... :)

Most scaners these days have an option as "scan and save in text form" "Scan as text + graphics"
If you scan with this option, you can edit.
The scanned document should be verified for correctness as the text recognation part of the scanner is not perfect.

You need to scan it to an ocr programme, one should have been supplied with the scanner. This tries to decode the image into it's individual letters. It will take a while to learn all the alphabet properly, but gets better each time you scan.

I also thought of that idea, but the program you used to scan it will not recognize the characters (words etc.) in your document.
Just manually edit the document, it would be fine.

you would need a word recognition tool, there are many on the net most of them you have to pay for, there is probably a program like that on your scanners driver CD.

you want an OCR application. there's a unfastened one available, even though it incredibly is limited. in simple terms google unfastened OCR. particularly some printers incorporate their very own OCR, in many situations, test - deliver to - be conscious. desire this helps.
