Doing away with private ownership of firearms will not stop violence or crime. It would be nice if people could stop trying to compare America with the rest of the world. You just can't do that. ( Nicevolve ) We are free here and you have to use that freedom in a RESPONSIBLE and WISE manner. Don't abuse it. People came here to get away from the crap of the rest of the world. That is how and why America came into being. Why should I give up my rights and freedoms because of the criminal acts of others. That will never ever happen. Will you give up your driving PRIVILEGES because some fool drove into a bus full of children. Let people be held accountable for their own actions instead of everyone else.

Obviously dislike them. That however is pointless, what is more important is to study where they are occuring most, why and target prevention.

Get rid of guns, it is absurd for people to own such a lethal weapon. Suicides etc just made easy etc. Most countries don't have them or very restricted and do not have anywhere near the violence of US.

Violence is often taught, in the homes and with peer groups. I have never been violent, or been exposed to it so hard for me to advise. However I feel it is hypocrisy to HIT your children and then say don't be violent, or employ the state sanctioned killing (death penalty) and then say don't murder.

Crimes - wow that is general too. I don't care about victimless crime. The rest could be improved by better social policies at least.

Initiating violence (including the kind involving a gun) or fraud is bad and is normally a crime. Using violence (including the kind using a gun) in defense of self or other innocents is good and moral and should never be a crime.

the realization about violence is w/ this many ppl living on one planet, chances are even at a very small percentage, there s going to some ppl that are prone for violence. its not always learned, culture or even from being abused.this VT kid had more chances than many ppl to succeed in life but was either wired wrong and couldnt cope or just plain snapped. it sounded like it was an obsession w/ him. as for guns... guns are bad when bad ppl have them.guns are great when everybody else has them. bad guys will always have guns, it ll be bad when only the bad ppl have guns. could you imagine the day when someone breaks into your house and you fire your illegal gun at them to save your family and its YOU that goes to jail that night? i perish the thought

I am against violence - unless it is perpetrated by me in self defense.
I am in favor of guns - but only when held by trained, law abiding citizens.
I am in favor of crime - if there were no crime, I would have to reassess my career path, and I'm just too old to do that now.

An armed society is a polite society.

If just five out of ten people excercised their right to conceal and carry legally, that would mean that a criminal has a 50% cance of being shot if they were to commit a violent crime.

Would you take that chance? Most criminals wouldn't either.

A growing problem which is only going to get worse if something isn't done about it. More police presence on the streets might help. Counselling at schools aiming at anger management. Outlaw guns fullstop , they have no place in modern society.
