I don't think it's illegal, but it might what determines whether or not you get that ticket.

You should get a hidden camera and a microphone and do this ****. That would be great! I wouldn't think it would be considered a bribe since you aren't asking for anything in return, you're just offering a friendly donut. But, the cop may be anywhere from being salty that you are trying to be a wise-*** to think it's a funny *** joke.

I always thought it would be funny to go to a cop at a speed trap and walk up to them and be the annoying police ***-kisser that's is totally oblivious and stupid to what they are doing. So, picture a SNL kinda character, really nerdy and really child-like curious asking the officer what they are doing and why and offer them donuts and coffee and be their best friend, but in a horribly nerdy annoying way. Maybe pull out a camera and ask if it's ok to take your picture with them, or offer to run to the store and get them some donuts and coffee, etc. Just totally F with them because they're ***** for sitting in a speed trap waiting to catch people.

Go ahead and offer him a donut. He will most likely very professionally and very politely decline, then get on with his business.
Cops are just people. Some of them DO like donuts. But most of them would not accept a donut as a bribe, nor would they fail to see the humor in the offer.

In the best case scenario, that will get you a ticket because it will p@ss them off that you are feeding a stereotype about them. In the worst case, they can also charge you with bribery as in write the ticket with a supporting deposition saying you tried to bribe them with donuts not to write it. That could get you an even heftier fine or jail time-so yes, as harmless and "funny' as it sounds-it could be stretched to make it illegal so be careful-just drive the speed limit and follow traffic laws;it's easier, less expensive and safer for both you and others on the road.

I doubt if it's illegal but it could be taken as a bribe in the ticket case. If you try it make sure to have a buddy with a video cam there recording.

it's not illegal-but the copper might think you are having a laugh at his expense. to which he might find a couple of things wrong with your car (most coppers will overlook minor infringements as regards motoring-depending on how you treat them). so it would be a wise move to keep the donuts in the bag!.

Nice one. Stereotyping coppers is not illegal but attempting to bribe them is. I would LOVE to see that one come to court!!! Bribing a cop with a doughnut....LOL
