You slip it in the side of his mouth, just between his lips, where there is a large gap between his front teeth and molars..he doesn't even need to open his mouth.
be sure his head is tilted upwards, so it flows to the back of his throat.

Ah, it's tough when they clamp their jaws shut. Usually you can open their jaws a little by wiggling the syringe between their back teeth - go for the side of the mouth not the front, this makes them clamp. You may even be able to squirt the medicine THROUGH the teeth, and then just hold the mouth closed until the dog swallows, which eventually he will.

As a last resort, if there's absolutely no way of getting through the teeth, you can squirt the medicine just inside his lips (again, at the side of the mouth not the front) and hold his mouth closed, or even just squirt it in and pray that he licks his lips!

Good luck! Personally I think cats are easier to medicate than dogs, despite their rep!

it may seem harsh but if the medicene is necessary then it is the most effective. fill your syringe with the medicene and lay where you can grab it quickly or have someone help. Without hurting the dog open his mouth for him, the empty the contents of the syringe into the back of his mouth then close his mouth and hold it loosely while rubbing his throat then release and praise then the next time may not be as difficult.

You didn't say what kind of dog you had. I would recommend open the dogs mouth and squitting it in the back of his mouth if you at all possible could. That is the way I have done large and small breed dogs. If you have someone to help you, let them help you. If not, you can do it...just be patient. If he tries to spit it out, then next time you do it, hold his mouth closed for a second, where he will have to swallow. Good Luck.

Insert the syringe in the very corner of his mouth and squirt it slowly.

How did your vet tell you to administer it? I hope you're not giving your dog human medicine.
