So far, Mr. Fire is the only one who has given a real answer. Gordon is 74 points ahead of Jeff Burton and 160 ahead of Kenseth. That means that in the next race Kenseth can only catch Gordon if he finishes first and leads the most laps AND Gordon finishes last. That would put him ahead of Gordon by one point. Jeff Burton would have to finish about 25 spots ahead of Gordon to pass him in points this week.
So, it is possible, but unlikely that Burton could take the points lead this week and almost impossible that Kenseth could do it. And, even if Jimmie Johnson wins and leads the most laps and Gordon finishes last, Johnson would still be 50 points behind.

I not a big Jeff Gordon fan, but he really runs strong in these kinds of races recently. So, my answer is yes he will still have the points lead after Talladega.

I'm hoping and praying he does because he has a ton of great momentum but anyone and I mean anyone can be involved in that big one so its extremely important to be upfront and you better qualify well otherwise your going to be in trouble and your spotter is going to be in your ear all the time because you never know when that wreck is going to happen but there is deffinately going to be a caution probably the first 5 laps as someone gets to jumpy and crashes into someone and does something stupid.

Of course he will. Do the math. He's 74 points ahead. There is no way Jeff Burton will get that in just one race. Unless Jeff wrecks, but we know that won't happen. Jeff is the best and my guess is He will get the pole again.

Gordon should stay in the point lead unless he gets caught up in the big one.

It just depends on how much nascar is willing to help him and Jimmy with these bogus debris cautions. I was at Atlanta and saw a debris caution come out with 10 to go. We didn't see anyone on the track picking up anything. That caution bunched the cars back up and cost Tony Stewart the race.
But Jeff is a good driver and has done well at Talladega. I just hope those inbred, no class, bottom dwelling, trailer trash, hill billys don't throw trash on the track if he wins.

yes, gordon constantly gets top 5, top 10 finishes every week. those are what keep your points up, yeah winning helps too, but a strong finish will keep you strong in points. i look forward to a strong finish by him at 'dega. it will be great if he wins because that will mean he got past earnhardt for most all time wins, and he did it at the track that earnhardt won the most at.
