I have a cousin who is clairvoyant and some things she gets right & some things she doesn't. My question is where do you draw the line between psychic & disfunctional/mentally ill. She gives readings to people (spiritual guidance, not necessarily future prediction & she does have official proven counselling experience re counselling victims of crime for an organisation) for a living but hardly makes any money. She won't join the workforce in a regular job to make real money & makes silly excuses as to why. It's hard to say if she's just a bit flakey & unable to fit into society & handle people or whether she is just one of those alternative people. She says she has friends, but we suspect she spends most of her time alone at home. Her physical appearance is not good, she sometimes even wears stained, dirty clothes if she does visit you or if you visit her. She makes excuses if you invite her around to visit & pretends she's busy but it's not true. What do you think?

Say sometimes not some things. OK?

Here is my advise to you, please.

Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Mat 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Put her under observation, under your observation, then comment. do not tell her about it,she may spank you.

EIther/or/both/neither.

I have had psychic experiences that I can't explain. I have had psychic experiences that I can sort of explain. i have also had experiences some would consider psychic, but I have a simple explanation for. I don't think the details of these experiences are important (and some would be hard to explain) but rest assured, I'm hardly a flake.

There are a couple aspects of physics, and quantum physics which I believe could possibly account for some psychic experiences. Other "psychic" experiences like tarot reading can simply be having intuition into the psychology of an individual.

Our minds are basically simulation engines. What we observe through our senses is our brains simulation of its interpretation of what we observe. For example, light travels from a source, bounces off an object and goes to our eyes. Millions of rods and cones interpret the frequencies and direction of light as electrical signals which are transferred to the brain. Only in the brain are these impulses interpreted as an image.

Ok, we know that different animals and insects can see different types of light (different ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum).. the same way dogs can hear higher pitched noises than we can.

The human brain has evolved to interpret the expected input from our senses very well. But what if it receives input it doesn't expect?

I remember learning about an experiment where someone wore glasses that essentially flipped the image so it was upside down. He wore these glasses all the time. After a week or so, something really strange happened. His brain corrected the input and suddenly he saw things right side up even though he was still wearing the glasses. He took the glasses off and suddenly he was seeing the world upside down!

What we call visible light is electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of between 7000-4000 Angstroms. What if someone had the tiniest little defect in their eyes that would cause them to register radiation with a wavelength of 7001 Angstroms. By the time the message reached their brains, how would their brain interpret it? Since the brain would try and correct it somehow, could the brain simulate someone having an aura??

I've also read that time doesn't flow in a straight line. Apart from bending around large objects, it has eddies like a fast flowing river. Suppose there is a person capable of interpreting these "temporal rifts".. not necessarily in a conscious way... I'm not saying this would be magical, I'm just saying the brain has a way of not noticing what it doesn't need to notice. I'm also not saying the above ideas are true or even probable, but they just might be possible.

So even if she doesn't have any of these special abilities, there is always the possibility she has some mundane abilities like empathy, intuition, and noticing subtle things about people. Seeing as they are very subtle and people are different, that could account for her hit and miss record. Does she get some people consistently right and others consistently wrong, or is she all over the place? Even "genuine" psychics say that people have to find a psychic that's right for them.

Let me ask you this, if she was really psychic, can you see how her behaviour might make sense?

Is she in any danger or do you just not think her way is a very good way to live?

It also sounds like, and forgive me for saying this, that your family is a little judgemental towards her. Maybe her avoidance is simply that she doesn't want to be in an environment where she's looked down upon?

Of course it is also entirely possible she is ill.

Unless she poses any danger to herself or to others, you may just have to accept her as an eccentric cousin.

I hope this helps...

A person fits the criteria for dysfunctional or mentally ill when they are not able to carry out the activities of daily living. The concept of "real" money is subjective. There is a difference between stained and dirty clothes. Stained clothes can be clean with "stains" that simply can not be removed. Dirty clothes are clothes that are not clean. The wearing of stained clothes may indicate she simply can not afford to replace them or that appearance is just not high on her list of priorities. Clean clothes could be related to how easily she has access to what she needs to clean her clothes and how many clothes she has. She may choose not to visit people she feels sit in judgment of her. She may also be an empath and not comfortable around others. Do a bit of research on empaths and see if any of that fits for your cousin.

she is a psychic, but what she probably doesn't know is that sadly, she is getting the answers from bad spirits below of some sort. The things that she speaks of will turn out bad. She wont have a good life if she continues this way. Other people who follow God can also tell you things the only difference is that they are getting their information directly from the holy sport and only a few can do this they are prophesiers

The Bible does not really mention mental illness apart from during periods of oppression. "Mere oppression may make a wise one act crazy."—Ecclesiastes 7:7.

King David acted crazy for the King of Gath, so this indicates that pagans conceive of mental illness as being an issue. From a Christian perspective, dreaming, polluting oneself and slandering celestial beings all go together.
Jude 8 - In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings.

It's possible that if your cousin has contacted any spirits from the other side and slandered them, that she is now in their bad books and using excuses to try to make up and get ahead again.

The best advice Jude had to give was:
20But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. 21Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
22Be merciful to those who doubt; 23snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

No-one has ever demonstrated any form of psychic ability that stands up to being tested. The probability is that she has no psychic ability whatsoever but is reasonably good at cold reading. take it from there.

I'm afraid she sounds a bit mental. Just try to be her friend without judging her. That might help her come out of her shell and enter the real world.
