I had unprotected sex with a male friend last year, he has just been diagnosed with cirrohsis of the liver which im told CAN be caused by hepatitis. Does this mean that he has hepatitis and has therefore passed it on to me??

Cirrhosis is deterioration of the liver, Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver.... very, very different ..... If this all happened last year, your okay but to ease your worries go to your Doctor...,.... Good luck and Play It SAFE!!!, next time you might not be so LUCKY........Peace to you..

There is more than one thing that can cause liver damage, if you just look at the other answers you have had they have listed them already. if you are really that worried go to you local family planning clinic and they can advise you or ask you to go for a blood test. I would say it is highly unlikely. By the way why are you having unprotected sex???????????

Go and get checked out. It is probably unlikely, as they don't even know what caused the cirrhosis of the liver (was he a drug or alcohol abuser)
Better to be safe than sorry.

It can be caused by a lot of things, but you need to get checked by a doctor and get some tests. Don't be scared, be sensible and go to the doctor, and in the future always use condoms.

just because he had cirrohsis does not mean had hep.. there could be many reasons why he was DX with this? but if it was because of the hep-yes u can get it!!! so u might want to get tested

possibility. but he could get cyrossis of the liver from too much drinking, heavy metal pollution or poisoning. Have your self checked out immediately

Prolly not, girl... have safe sex ( duh!) This could as easily been aids as hep c! I have mild Cirrhosis of the liver and it is GENETIC not some STD. Be safe once again, and get checked out by the health department if you are worried still.

you will have to ask him if he has Hepatitis -we cannot know this without looking at his lab results. visit your doctor for a full exam and STD testing. use a condom.

Your easiest solution would be to go to your doctor and tell them this info. They can order a blood test and it will be able to tell you for sure. This way you don't have to confront that person either if you don't want to.... Good luck
