I wouldn't say that I feel uncomfortable but I do stay alert to who is around me and what is going on. And yes, it is common courtesy to allow some space between yourself and the person conducting business at the ATM.

I was always taught that the general rule is to stand 8-10 feet behind the ATM while someone is using it. Usually, the line forms that far away to give the person a feeling of privacy and security.
The other day hubby and I were at an ATM and some guy came up and stood so close to my husband I don't know how he didn't feel him there. He was literally inches away. I was done with my transaction, so he couldn't get my PIN, and he let the woman already in line go before him, so I don't know what the deal was. It made me VERY uncomfortable though. There is no time that a stranger should be that close to you, especially when you are doing something as sensitive as accessing your bank account!
Some people just have no social skills I guess.

If they come up closely behind me, yes it does make me feel uncomfortable! I always shield the pad with my hand and stand closely to the ATM so people can't see what I'm doing anyhow, but I still prefer people to keep a little distance. And of course I keep a bit of distance too when I'm waiting in line.

Dude I am in the business of ATMs and Cards and you should feel uncomfortable if someone invades your personal space. There are so many scams out there and ways to get your pin number...put it this way, if your in doubt, just walk away from the ATM. Its a lot safer!

Yes, I feel uncomfortable. Especially if it's in the evening or even daylight if no one else is around. Usually, I go to drive thru's, then you have more privacy.
I believe if you walk up on someone and try to see what they are doing it's called being RUDE....so, no I don't do that.

Depends on the location, the time of day and the person. But, I'm usually never afraid. I always give the person in front of me some space.

This is funny...and so me and times, with the exception of the make-up and dumping my purse. I occasionally enter the wrong pin number, and I always have to open my door because I can't reach the machine even with my arm out of the window.... Great one!

Yes i do ... silly may be .. but i guess its just uneasy feeling that I shouldn't watch them. If some one watches me i feel a little paranoid and start thinking silly things.

I'm more disturbed by the fact that it asks me whether I want Spanish or English screens.
That's the REAL problem in America.
