I think taking medication for stress is definitely abusing your body.
Medicating for stress will not in any way help you learn to deal with daily stress so you will become dependent on the medication just to make it through the day and I wonder, do you want to walk through life in a daze?
Also, every medication has one or more negative side effects, I feel it's trading one problem for another which is often as bad or worse, and still, the orginal problem exists.
There are other means you can use that will help your body learn to handle stress. Meditation is one excellent examply and today you can get guided medition (through sounds) that make it fast and easy to learn with results showing up almost instantly.
Diet is another excellent way to help your body deal with stress. Foods high in the B vitamins would be ideal. Limiting sugar would be a positive strep as well as elliminating all caffiene and alcohol.
There are various supplements that have been shown to help with stress. I take a supplement called Limu Plus and this product contains Adaptagen plants which have been shown to help our bodies learn to handle stress very well.
In my experience with this product I have noticed quite a change in how I can handle stress.
I hope you find the answer that works for you!

I am sorry that you are having such a hard time.
Have you first gone to an endocrinologist to see if there is a biological reason this is happening?
Secondly, take a look at natural supplements that boost serotonin production. A well informed natural foods store can guide you.
Anti-anxiety meds actually create more stress in the long run. They are addictive and have huge rebound effects.
I hope you will see a specialist, a counselor with medical knowledge, and get some assistance sorting this out.
best...

About 9 months ago I was on the verge of getting on anti depressants because I was having such a hard time dealing with my stress. My mom had died about 5 month before, my husband decided to start his own business, I was home schooling my oldest child, I have a 2 year old....on and on... My stress markers were very high. I was mad at everyone and just felt like I needed something to help me 'catch my breath'
A friend of mine gave me a gift of a product that has changed my life. The first time I drank it, I could literally feel my stress level drop. Within the next 3 days, my energy was up and I felt more optimistic, not so overwhelmed.
Unfortunately because of Y!A guidelines I can't provide you with the link the the website because I would be "promoting" a product, but if you would like more information, you can e-mail me at KatsanisP@myagelesslife.com

Medication alone will NOT help you, but you are right- you do need medication. SSRIs are often prescribed for anxiety like you are describing. SSRIs are meds like prozac, zoloft, and celexa. In addition to medication, however, you need to be in therapy. So many people start on meds thinking it will help, and then eventually realize that the meds aren't that effective. Substantial research shows that the most effective treatment is medication PLUS therapy. You'll need a psychiatrist or general medical doctor to prescribe the meds, and a psychologist for therapy.
I know it sounds complicated, but you will benefit greatly once you can get the stress under control effectively.

You'll get a better answer, but have you thought about just looking inside yourself for the answer. It's hard to find time to reflect or think things through, but maybe, if you could find a way to make some time for yourself, you'd feel better. Maybe if you made a computer file that helped you remember your priorities or organize your life a little better your stress might be relieved. Of course, if you are married you might have to explain to your spouse why you are doing these new things and that can be tricky. I think organization beats stress, really.
Stress is beatable!

i have severe anxiety and what i take is klonopin twice a day and lexapro once a day with ambien at night and i also hold down a full time job. so this is what works for me. i don't know what your situation is so you should talk with your doc and see what they say. they can help you. you may not even need meds you may just need some good talk therapy and some relaxation from your stress. you might try some meditaion and some relaxing tea like chamomile or sleepy time. hope this helps
