According to the Bible, they should be;
*Another fine example of "selective morality" practiced by organized religion.
Modern medicine itself has contributed to the increased interest in alternative medicine (see my "Postmodern Impact: Health Care," in The Death of Truth, Bethany House, 1996). Modern, scientific medicine can literally work wonders with bacterial infections, broken bones or severe injuries from car wrecks. However, medical solutions for cancer, AIDS and chronic illnesses have not been so dramatic. Patients become angry or disillusioned when modern medicine does not produce rapid, complete recoveries. Some get frustrated with the emphasis on technology, drugs and surgery to treat only the physical symptoms of illness. Ethical quandaries over the use of technology, especially at the end of life, make others question physicians' motivations. Many could accept these difficult situations, but the impersonal treatment and financial pressures of hi-tech medicine cause them to turn elsewhere.
Christians can empathize with these concerns. These are very distressing circumstances. Certainly, humans are not just bags of chemicals, but are embodied spiritual, emotional, and relational beings (1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 4:12). Any form of medicine which neglects patients' feelings, family dynamics, or lifestyle issues (such as diet, exercise, and stress) fails to care for the whole person. The Bible affirms the importance of these factors for healthy living (Proverbs 17:22; 2 Samuel 13:2).
But Scripture, unlike either modern or alternative medicine, also indicates that complete health depends upon a moral life, and resolving one's moral guilt (Proverbs 3:8; Psalms 32:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:29-30). Since forgiveness is only available through Jesus Christ, He is the only true source of ultimate healing (John 6:35-40).

To the contrary! True Christians aren't by the way anyone on earth who claims to be one... by their fruits is how you will recognize a Christian or a follower of Christ... so that has become such a rarity that I don't ever use that term to define who I am at all... and yet I live by the words of Christ 24/7 and you'll never hear me bragging of being a Christian... and wish no one else would either... but to each his own... I just don't like labels which is comparable to judging and thank God, it's not my job... but no! the best scientists and doctors are very much in the know of what God is all about and they even leave a patient in God's hands and care when they have done all that they could or when they have a complicated case... The word of God, the Scriptures already had written down thousands of years before they the doctors that they weren't supposed to touch a patient after having touched a corpse... and the very basics of healthy living were not known for a long time to the world that were given to God's people, the Israelites... from the old testament... who knew better than the rest of the planet how to keep clean and healthy for the times they were living in...

Who said we're against science? Evolution is fake and a lie, there's evidence to prove that, besides. evolution has some many loop holes in it that leads back to what you were trying to prove in the first place, evolutionists have to make up evidence to get anywhere. We use modern medicine because we're mortal and humans, humans become sick and need care, Christians aren't some special group that doesn't need medicine and can just pray to God for healing and get healed when we ask. Prayer is just a conversation with God to talk to him, ask him things, and spend time with Him, yeah we can ask him to heal or lessen pain, but he may or may not do it. It's a natural thing, getting sick, everybody does it and they need medicine. So get off your soap box about Christians....

No, we are not against modern medicine. It just we know it has it's proper place. For example, I have not taken any medicine or aspirin in about 10 years. I have not seen a doctor for any sicknesses probably since 1995. Because I have learned to be healed through just my relationship with Jesus Christ. I would only take medicine if the Holy Spirit directed me to. Because when medicine is administer at the direction of God it is going to be successful. God told Isiah the prophet to prepare a fig poultice for king Hezekiah and place it on the boil on his face. When the prophet did as God commanded him. The boil on Hezekiah's face went down. You can take all the medication you want, but it's not going to work unless their is some direction given from God, because He is the source of all healing. Some believers have not matured in their faith to be healed supernaturally, so God does allow them to use medication until they can learned to be healed by their faith.

Most aren't. As for the few that are against modern medicine, I think their interpretation of the Bible is wrong.
More common are the cults that oppose modern medicine. Some even poses as Christian organizations.

Well, I know that there's a sect called something like the Christian Scientists- which is kind of like saying, "military intelligence" or "jumbo shrimp" but anyway, they do not believe in ANY sort of medical care. They believe that if the Lord gave you cancer, that you just have to keep praying to the Lord and accept your fate. Some parents of this sect are so nutty that even if their own children are in danger of dying from pneumonia, they will not accept ANY form of medical help to save their own children, because it was evidentally the Lord's plan - and if the child lives or dies, it's in the hands of God. I can't imagine not wanting to save a child from a potentially life threatening event, and leaving the outcome into the hands of God if they live or die.

Some of them are against it in some of the areas of it. Funny thing is, so is evolution. Evolution works by the weaker members of a group dying sooner and having less chance of passing on their disease prone genes. Modern medicine allows them to live and breed, defeating evolution.

Which Christians? There are many, many Christians with many, many different beliefs. You can't just stereotype them like that. This one here happens to have nothing against modern medicine at all. Thousands of Christian doctors would be out of a job without it.

I am a Christian and I think that a lot of modern medicine is wonderful. I am definately not against it. I am only against modern medicine (or practices rather) that go against God, such as cloning or non-absolutely-positively necessary abortions... I hope that makes since.

Jesus said, he who is well, need not a phisician.
If a sich person needed a doctor in the days of Jesus, why is it different today, patients has a choice if he would except any medicine then or now.
