I like apicole's answer! I found this when I was reading some old notes yesterday:
"Myths are great poems. They are doorways to wonder, to the experience of the holy. Myths do not speak primarily of historical events that have occurred, but of themes of the inner world of imagination."
'Preachers and believers' perhaps do not see that the 'word' they honour is not meant to speak to the mind but to the heart.
And so they cannot see the levels of meaning beyond the 'obvious'. Which is not to say that this 'knowledge' is esoteric. Quite the opposite for those who have eyes to see.

If you are using the term mystic loosely, than no.
If by mystic you mean someone how has had a sensory experience void of mediation, than for the time there is no mediation, I would say yes, because they are simply observing truth. Once they snap out of it though, they see things differently.
EDIT: Sorry , I didn't read your question right. I didn't see the Why. Anyway, you're right in that they see eye to eye on some truths. These are the most important revelations they have during the mystical experience, and they can't help but get them right. That we are all one is something all mystics will agree on. They may tell the story different but the message is the same.

The mystics of all religions see eye to eye on truth because the truth is objective. There is no religion higher than truth. All paths say the same thing esoterically and only differ exoterically. Esoteric Christianity says the same things as Kabbalah (mystical Judaism) and Sufism (mystical Islam), it is the churches that differ in their interpretation and religious practices.

Absolutely!
It is K W's spiritual 'perennial philosophy'. The Void. Kensho. Call it what you want, it's all the same thing.
How can there possibly be dissension in undifferentiated Truth? (Maybe 'undifferentiated' is the wrong word because that comes before manifestation. Perhaps 'realised' would be better - though since the whole thing is totally beyond the reach of words , we're just having a giggle anyway! (Or IT is).
Keep 'em coming, CD, it's nice to know you're out there.

Mystics see into the deepest part of reality where they have an experience of oneness with their God or with Ultimate Reality. At that level there is no separation. It is like reading and hearing about someone for years and then you actually meet them in person. The ones who actually meet the person will know them as they really are and not as they imagine them to be. The 'experience' of oneness, with what in my religion is called God, is what unites us.
Also a mystic has a special way of 'knowing' that only another mystic can truly understand. It is like a special language that does not need words. One mystic can know that the other is. And the one that we love, this truth, give us the ability to love each other.
There is only one truth. When it is filtered through culture and the left brain it come out in the different types of theology. And when you state to debate theology you get wars. When you listen and talk with your heart, you get truth and peace.

The true religion must be the one that follows the bible most closely. The bible claims to be Gods word given to man so that is the yardstick for truth. Many religions have adopted pagan beliefs into their faiths such as the Trinity, Immortality of the soul, Hellfire etc and have also allowed things condemned in the bible like Homosexuality, involvement in war etc. If you read the bible yourself (takes about a year if you read a couple of chapters a day) you'll be able to see for yourself which faith holds most closely to the bible and therefore has God's approval.

According to Hindu Religion, truth is itself is one of the best religion among all religions. Accordingly, in the race of best religion among all religions, mystics of all religions see eye to eye on truth. Therefore, preachers and believers think they alone have"the one true Religion". If you have no religion, but you speak truth and consequently all qualities such helping to those who need your help, speak truth,do your work with honesty etcGod power would automatically arise in you and you do not need any religion to follow on. Moreover, truth religion is one of the hardest religions and in comparison to rest religions and that is the reason people follows named religions and not the truth religion.

How do you know what all mystics agree on? Have you asked each and every one of them what they believe? Seems like a really poor question. Wouldn't we be better served by asking what constitutes God inspired truth versus satan inspired truth? If we can't tell the difference than we are in a lot of trouble.

True Mystics know God and God is not of any religion.
Religion (while there are MANY exceptions among religious persons and I shouldn't generalize) tends to have a dogmatic teaching that often limits thinking and growth.

I'll tell you why, because mystics are interested in finding the truth and harmony, not just in being right to the detriment of everyone else!
