They will let you know soon enough in boot camp whether or not you won't wash out. However, the military will provide all kinds of help and encouragement to the sincere candidate and if you are determined, will step you through the process with advice and counsel. I believe you can even be offered a "second chance" to complete the boot camp training. They are not going to induct a really physically unfit person if that's where your doubts lie, so trust the training and do your best. Since you are in the Reserves, they have already had a chance to assess your attitude and performance and USMC reputation is not based on lost bets...best of luck to a future "jarhead."

Like the guy above said. 90% mental... You can do anything you put your mind to. The recruiter SHOULD NOT send you to boot if you arent ready. Dont worry youll do good. I wanted to be hardcorps when I went in. (rifleman). I got bad knees, elbows, back, ankle, wrist, shoulder. Now this time I will go back in as another MOS. Anyone can be 0311. Aim higher. Unless you know for a 100% fact you are gonna stay in for 20 and retire go ahead and be in infantry. If you arent sure then do something you can learn for when you get out. No offense to infantry. Most grunts would agree with me.

If your having doubts now you might have some trouble. If you arent a fat lard the physical part shouldnt be too bad, the worst they will do is send you to the "pork chop platoon" where they whip your *** into shape if you cant keep up.
Also having rifleman guaranteed isnt special. you could sign up the day before you go in and request to be a rifleman.
From the way you talk about it messin up your life you might be one of those shitbirds so you better think long and hard before signing your life away and i do mean it when i say signing your life away!

to maintain your odds of making it through boot camp...
get into shape (vigorous exercise) will help physical transition.
do not bring attention to yourself, when given an order, complete the request as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
remember, anything can be accomplished if you want it to happen badly enough.

The Marine Corps is a very exclusive club.
To join any good club, you have to pay your dues.

Are you willing to pay your dues? if so, You've already gone the first couple of steps.

Remember, millions have gone before you, and millions have made it, and many after you will make it. , You're not alone.
Good luck, and thank you for serving your country.

If you're asking yourself that question, you don't belong in the marine corps. That's not to say you don't have what it takes, but that you probably don't want to have what it takes.
