Tell me. Why should I convert to something so unsuccessfully pointless?
At least you actually have a point if you believe in creationism
but that is my opinion.

So tell me why evolution is so much better to you than creationism. Go ahead and criticize me all you want. I don't mind. TRY ME...

You should do the research and believe whatever you like.

What you decide doesn't change the truth of the matter.

Hinduism is older than Christianity.

So, shouldn't you become a Hindu then, since it's older?

As for me, I look at the available evidence. The available evidence all points to evolution, not one single bit points to creationism.

Nobody wants you to convert to science, reason and logic. Scientists and atheists want you to be free to believe whatever superstition you choose.
Just do not try to push your stupid nonsense on us through terror tactics.
To answer your question: Evolution, or more precisely, NATURAL SELECTION, explains how species change. It is a theory that is very well established with lots of measurable data.
Creationism stops all thought because it goes back to "God did it." Just as the belief that the world is flat and that the earth is the center of the universe, creationism will be viewed as a blunder when the data becomes overwhelming to the point that those who believe in creationism will appear stupid. It's going to happen.

First off...you don't "convert" to evolution as though it were a religion. Would you convert to gravity? String theory? No? Evolution is a scientific theory, NOT a religion! Please pass that tidbit of info around, as it seems a lot of people are misinformed.

Study the evidence thus far.

Ask specific questions about things you don't understand.

If it makes sense to you, great! If not, oh well.

To answer your question, why is evolution so much better than creationism.. because creationism is religious dogma, and ID was created to combat scientific discoveries on human origin, and all of life on earth. It is NOT a scientific theory on its own merit, but a religious panic attack.

Evolution = science.
Creationism/ID = dogma masked as science/pseudoscience.

edit: creationism is older than evolution, so it must be right? LOL Ok, and the idea that the earth was flat came before evidence for it being round.. but I guess we should all convert to the Flat Earth idea right? Sheesh

edit again: Realchurchhistorian, I do believe several people used the word theory here. And you ask for proof? Check my sources below

Here's the deal. There is a lot more evidence to support evolution than there is for the skydaddy poofing us into existence. Also you are really confused because evolution doesn't deal with creation, that would be the big bang. Now, concerning the big bang, whether you believe god got the ball rolling or it occured naturally, that's up to you. Now please stop posting ignorant questions.

And for the people who keep insisting we came from monkeys. Read a bloody science book. Our common ancestor was an ape. Monkeys are not apes.

Edit: "the point is, creationism is older than evolution, so who'd you rather believe? ur baby brother or ur grandmother?" The geocentric model of the solar system is older than the heliocentric model so I gues by that logic we should still be believing that the earth is the center of the solar system.

There is no reason why you should believe in evolution - your belief will have no effect on it's truth.

Your life will not be affected if you do or don't believe in it.

Most people will say evolution is 'better' than creationism because it makes more sense. We have information now that people thousands of years ago didn't have, and we can make the intelligent choice. Of course, some people choose to live in denial of the facts that have been uncovered.

I didn't believe in the tooth fairy when I was a kid but I still got a dollar under my pillow all the same.

You still have a "point" or "purpose" if you believe in evolution. You do not have to be an atheist to believe in evolution.

Evolution vs. creationism is a matter of science.

Ummmm..... Creationism is around 6,000 - 8,000 years old. Evolution has been happening for 13 billion years. Seems you have your fiction and facts confused.

Do you disagree with Einstein's Theory of Relativity? See it as unsuccessfully pointless?

God has nothing to do with evolution;

Evolution can be divided into two parts, macro and micro.

Micro evolution is a fact, where as macro evolution remains a theory due to debates on the exact steps of the evolutionary process. EVOLUTION DID HAPPEN we simply can’t trace the exact evolutionary steps of the of the 3 trillion plus species on earth.

Considering there is no way that we can even prove if we have located all the species on earth, this may always remain a theory. We can prove though, beyond a doubt, that humans have evolved.

We can trace it back conclusively 3.6 million years. 97% of all scientists accept evolution (so does the Catholic Church). Christians have spread lies about this excessively, they especially like to say evolution preaches that Humans evolved from monkeys.

Evolution does not state that humans evolved from monkeys, that idea is completely absurd. Science states that monkeys and humans evolved from a shared forefather and are hence relatives, (all primates are) but we are in no way direct descendants of them.

I personally prefer to believe true things instead of false things, even when the truth goes against my wishes.

Everytime I gain a better understanding of the physical world, or life, of the workings of my own brain, I feel more complete. Even when this better understanding confirms that my consciousness will end when I die.
---- edit
Knowledge accumulates over time, but only if we weed out false knowledge. If my baby brother had just finished obtaining a doctorate degree from Harvard or Yale or CalTech or MIT or Stanford, you bet I'd rather learn from him instead of my Grandmother! Even if she had the best education of her day.

Evolution is backed by data and reason. It is the *best* theory we have, so far, for how we came to be.

Creationism is based on blind faith, wild inaccuracy, and misinterpretation. Believing that the earth/the universe is only 6000 years old (as Creationists do) is to ignore tens of thousands of years of human and natural history, and is a timeline out of whack with the best information we have about the universe by a factor of one million.

There is much that science can't yet explain, but religion doesn't even make the slightest effort. Blind faith, at the expense of all reason, is teetering on the edge of madness.

*Artificial selection* is easy to observe: look at the speciation of dogs, which all originated from the wolf; or all of the kinds of roses, or orchids, which each originated from a single flower. Look at the domestication of wheat and corn - from wild grasses - and the banana, from wild banana palms.

The natural selection of all other life, through the trials of life itself, is not a large leap of the imagination.
