I do have ADD. I was diagnosed by my therapist when I was 17, then I was tested again a year ago by a neuropsycologist for college and the diagnosis was confirmed, yet again.
Yes my mind feels like its full of clutter. I have racing thoughts that go by so fast that it's hard to get a complete thought out in words. Catching complete thoughts feels like like trying to catch a car speeding by, with my hand. I procrastinate a lot because I have such a hard time completing tasks. I have hard times taking tests at school because every noise I hear, every sight I see, and every sensation I feel distracts me from prolonged concentration on the task at-hand. My room is a mess, it feels like my head, cluttered and full of things I just can't organize. I try to organize it, but I can't even decide where to start... like I have to start in the perfect place or it's just not possible.
I feel a lot better though since my therapist and about a year on anti-depressants. The anti-depressants helped me slow my thoughts long enough for me to be able to think to get my life together. There's no cure for this but your therapist and/or doctor will show you ways to make it not so bothersome. If you feel that you have ADD, I would definitely suggest seeing a therapist. If you talk to your doctor,he/she will be able to recommend one.

Clutter IS a symptom of ADD. Honestly, I believe that an adult is capable of fighting the symptoms in comparison to a child.
You must be able to fight the symptoms or you would never be able to hold down a job or even drive a car. You are probably young still and just coming to terms with this. My guess is that you are a girl because boys tend to have hyperactivity in combination with the ADD hence, ADHD. Boys are also more likely to be diagnosed because they are driving everyone crazy. With just the ADD, you are not affecting others around you in a negative fashion, therefore you are least likely to be diagnosed. But, clutter is not the only symptom and several symptoms should be considered before a diagnosis can be made.

A cluttered mind has NOTHING to do with ADD. Lots of us have a cluttered mind but it has nothing to do with ADD as they don't have cluttered minds. They just can't stay focused.

We all feel like that from time to time. I certainly have my hyperactive, can't pay attention moments! I think it's normal. ADD occurs when it's not just a phase or a few fleeting moments, when you can't just say to yourself, "You need to pay attention now."
