Traditions and names don't matter, as long as the individual is following God and Christ.

Re 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ

Re 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Neither the catholic church nor her protestant daughters keep or teach that anyone should keep the commandments. So I would reason that neither of them are closer to God, or that they even know God at all.

Ps 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever

Well, as far as closeness to God, Protestants (especially Episcopals) traditionally own the better real estate in more exclusive areas. But Catholics, at least the Irish and Italian varieties, tend to have the best street fairs and carnivals, and we all know God loves a good party.

So it's a toss up.

Depends on the person. I know my Grandma (Catholic) is close to God, but you cannot say one specific group is overall closer. Christianity is about the believers as an individual person, not one "church establishment" making one sect of Christians better than another. All that matters is those who are under Christ.

depends on the individual, some catholics aren't good catholics and some protestants aren't good protestants,i guess i am saying not every christian is a good christian. as a roman catholic i feel the catholicchurch has the fullness of truth whereas the protestants have truth but no to its fullest. no offence that is my humble opinion. i wish we could all agree on the importance of things such as the eucharist and sadly many protestants are confused about catholic teachings on things such as the saints, the blessed virgin mother mary, the papacy etc........... to finish of i'll say some catholics are closer to god as are some protestants. god bless.

The Most Holy Eucharist is the most intimate relationship with God that a human being can experience during this earthly existence. Everything else pales in comparison. If only they knew.

God did come to this world to make Catholics and protestants as his sons but to the save the sinners. All those who have repented from their sins and walk uprightly before God are closer to Him. It can be You or Me.

It is impossible to give a universal statement on the salvation of all members of any denomination of Christianity. Not ALL Baptists are saved. Not ALL Presbyterians are saved. Not ALL Lutherans are saved. Salvation is determined by personal faith in Jesus alone for salvation, not by titles or denominational identification. Despite the unbiblical beliefs and practices of the Roman Catholic Church, there are genuine believers who attend Roman Catholic churches. There are many Roman Catholics who have genuinely placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. However, these Catholic Christians are believers despite what the Catholic Church teaches, not because of what it teaches. To varying degrees, the Catholic Church teaches from the Bible and points people to Jesus Christ as the Savior. As a result, people are sometimes saved in Catholic churches.

In order to know which group is closer to god you have to determine the point of reference of where god is. No one knows and I doubt that you know where he is. I know it is not an answer but first question must be answered in order to answer your question. First question being as where in the hell is god?

Well, they both cna be pretty stupid. In my opinions Catholics more so. The pope puts his pants on one leg at a time same as I do.

But for your answer? Both are very distant form the true message of Jesus and the warmth of the Lord.
