The ad says it's good, like every ad would say about their product. How good a camera do you think is it? pros and cons? Thank you!

Of course, the L11 is so new, we won't find any meaningful reviews on-line; just press introductions and such. I walked a friend through the decision process and this camera was the one he chose for HIS needs. I don't think it meets my requirements - mostly because it lacks an optical viewfinder - but I don't think he's going to come back on me for giving him bad advice.

I suggested that he might want to spend a bit more money for the very similar Nikon Coolpix L12, but he was on a strict budget for this as a "spare" camera to stick in his pocket. I like the L12 better, because it adds image stabilization and it has a bit more range - top and bottom - in the ISO settings. This means you will "get the picture" more often with the L12 than the L11. Not to mention... the L12 is 7 MP instead of 6 MP. It's not much, but it's a tie-breaker.

There are three classes of digital cameras and it is a mater of pocket book and end user requirements. The brand and model is more or less a mater of personal preference. If all you want to do is take snap shots and make prints of about 4x6 on average, then you can go for a consumer view type camera. They cost less than $300 and some really nice ones (Kodak for example) are selling for around half that. The next class are the prosumer DSLR cameras costing under $1000 and the professional ones costing over $1000. I have a Toshiba 2.2 m/p that sold for around $120 some time ago and it is fine for snap shots and the like, but I also have a Pentax 6.1 DSLR that I do my pro work with. It was on sale for $500 (after $100 mail in rebate) last summer due they just came out with a new model at $799.95. Currently, the top brands seem to be Cannon, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax, so you won't go wrong with any of them. You need to test it, handle it, see if you like it. They all have about the same bells and whistles, but until you decide to become a photographer, just set it (what ever "it" turns out to be) on auto and let the camera do the work. The nice thing about digital is you can view your masterpiece at once or recycle your dud before any one else sees it! Have fun and hope I have helped.
