Yes, we are. Thanks to all the ones who discovered or invented all this equipment for our leisure.
Unfortunately, this is not true for people all over the earth. Being a US citizen, I feel most fortunate.

In Voltaire's Candide, Master Pangloss preaches that they live "in the best of all possible worlds." Candide innocently and stoutly adheres to this "philosophy" despite being repeatedly cruelly victimized by the people he encounters during his travels. The book ends with a somewhat wiser Candide, noting after another of Pangloss's semonettes about their good fortune, that "we must cultivate our garden."
We currently live in a world of burgeoning technology and increasing ease and comfort, at least for those who can afford it. We also live in world where our technology can show us genocide as it occurs, yet our TV remotes let us flip to The Simpsons rather than contemplate or address the horror. We should certainly enjoy that which technology brings, but we should also recognize that the human race as a whole cannot be considered lucky until we address the myriad world problems that spawn violence and misery.
In other words, yes, we are lucky that progress is made daily in the world of technology, but we must, too, cultivate our garden.

Let's see here...
Cars run people over.
T.V. is apparently poisoning our children's minds with senseless violence and sex.
Radio is used by people to spread their beliefs over large distance.
Computers have become so integral to society that the thought of a widespread outage would destroy civilization.
iPods are making people less aware on the road, listening to their music instead of their surroundings.
Electricity can kill people. It is made by burning fossil fuels. That is bad.
Cinema is lost to murder, violence, sex, and political bashing.
Music tells people to kill each other, have illegitamate children, commit suicide, and riot.
Antiobiotics have become so overused that bacterial strains are building up resistance. It is possible one day to run out of the medicines we so cling to.
Motorcycles, see Car.
Sewing machine... I got nothing.
Microwaves are used to kill small creatures gruesomely.
Cooking is fun!
Telephone allows people to stalk others, harass them in their own home, and sell products to the homebound consumer.
Mobile phones, see iPod. They also cause brain cancer.
Internet is disgusting. I can't even describe it.
Trains, buses, aeroplanes, see Cars.
Everything has its ups and downs. We are the most overloaded humans on Earth, which may or may not be a good thing. Personally, I enjoy these luxuries, but I'd like to see what it is like without them.

Ah, yes, we're so lucky! We have motor cars that pollute the air; TVs, radios, computers, Ipods, motorcycles, trains, buses, and airplanes that pollute the air; medical care that most people in the world can't afford; mobile phones that allegedly cause some types of cancer; an Internet that makes it easy for thieves to steal your identity or seduce your twelve-year-old daughter; music and cinema that poisons the minds of impressionable young people and causes them to become more anti-social as they grow up.
And you forgot about the gas-guzzling SUVs that create vehicle emissions and smoke-belching factories that help cause global warming. And what about all that 'disposable' junk we throw into landfills every day? How about all the chemicals and pesticides that poison our food and pollute our waterways? Don't forget about those greedy, corrupt politicians who put us into unwinnable wars all for the sake of their own egos and profit. Then there's the lowlifes of the Earth like Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern who incessantly spew forth their personal brands of poison over our airwaves. And people that destroy rain forests, hunt down and kill elephants for their tusks, run rip-shod over beautiful farmland just so they can build a new shopping mall, and destroy the sea life in our oceans so we can enjoy a $100-per-plate sushi dinner at a 5-star restaurant. Yeah, we're lucky...too bad our children's children won't be as fortunate as we are! -RKO- 04/27/07

It's the Universal truth that everything morphs and modernizes with the flow of TIME, on it's one way street towards future.
The present generations is always "lucky" for they gets the ultimate maximums.
Our next generations will be more "lucky" then us, and so on and on.......
But the entire so called "luck" depends on Universal Calamities/Disasters that may finish off the human race. It cannot be prevented.
WARs and the urge of achieving POWERs r the two factors that can be prevented in this world so that our so called "Lucks" continues ..... in it's Expanding motion, unless ACCIDENTs happens by unresistable forces of nature.

Yes we are the luckiest up till now, and it is up to us to decide whether we want to make our offsprings more lucky or push them down to be the most miserable people who ever lived. We are at a turning point. If we do not indulge in mad wars, arms build-up, nuclear weapons, religious hatred, ego problems, etc. and end up with a third world war, then our offsprings are the unluckiest. However, if we love peace, love humans, invest in technological developments etc. we can make our offsprings even luckier.

Every Future generation may think the same.
It is 'positive utilisation' of available resources that can continue to provide happiness and not just having them.
Try to help those who are not so lucky today and you may continue to feel lucky for the rest of life that you were able to help so many get better in life.

Humans living today are said to be lucky because of all the amenities and technology being enjoyed today. However, there is pollution unlike in the olden days when it was clean in most places.
