My son is autistic. He does 'rule' his own world, but I don't think just because it has an ism, that makes it a religion. You do make a good counter-point to the other question though.

uh, no. research the disease and the effects it has on the brain before you ask questions about it. In the context the other guy was talking about, it was a conscious decision to not believe in something. people with autism are perfectly capable in believing in things, they just may not believe in the same things as you or I. My brother, for example, believes in butterflies, and I can understand that, since they are too perfect (in his mind) to have been made by anything.

Autism is a mental disorder, that varies in a range called the autistic spectrum. So if that guy is right, which he isnt, then alcoholism, dwarfism, racism, and sexism are religions too. Who would have thought?

Hell no, if autisim was a religion, wouldnt it be optional? I dont think your born into a religion, last time i checked, you grow up and choose one, according to your morals, or parents or whatever influences you. And lastly, if autism was a religion, what type of god makes his people mentally and sometimes physically weak, or insufficient???

He's misunderstood the meaning, so his viewpoint is off. This should explain it properly.
Cited from Wikipedia.com - "-ism"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/-ism
Many -isms are defined as an act or practice by some, while also being defined as the doctrine or philosophy behind the act or practice by others.

Umm no. The last time I checked people practice religion. Do you think people with autism choose to practice it? It is not even forced on them. They are born with it. Who ever came up with that is ignorant.

You lame-brain! Why do you insist on referring us to web-pages? Is it that you are incapable of stringing two or three words of your own together? Precis the article, tell us what it is about, and then ask your question. Referring us to web-pages is akin to spam, and that is something that we don't tolerate here at Answers!
Next time you do this, I am gonna DOB you in.
