What other book do atheists think represents Christianity more than the Bible?

That's a good question. Atheists base their beliefs and answers on the books and works of others also. Christianity is about spiritual things, not science. When they ask spiritual questions, the Bible is the authority.
People are answering with "Christians don't think for themselves". Yet they quote works of scientists that may or may not be disproved in the future. The Bible, the spiritual authority, will never be disproved.

You have an excellent point there. The Bible provides all the answers for Christians, even though it has been seriously edited over the centuries and the New Testament wasn't even begun to be written until many decades after the death of Jesus. And even though there were serious arguments about Jesus for centuries until a pagan Roman emperor put a stop to the bickering, the Bible still holds all the answers.
The Bible holds the answers to questions that weren't even asked when the Bible was written such as, how have the species changed, is the world flat, is the earth the center of the universe, how do I charge my iPod and enter names on my friends list for my cell phone. The Bible has all those answers.
I don't think atheists should complain about Christians quoting the Bible, chuckle perhaps but not complain.

I've read many of these comments and find some of them amusing.
Such as, think for yourself, use your common sense, and don't quote someone else because it makes you look like a dummy.
OK, I'm alright with that as long as everyone else thinks through these logically.
Starting with the don't quote someone else, use your own brain. Break that one down. So, let's assume all schools had never taught Dawinism or evolution. I'd like to ask any athiest then how the world came to be. Nope, you are not allowed to quote anyone else's work, give me an answer from your own research, otherwise you look dumber than you really are. Give my your own pictures of the dinasour bones you dug up with your own two hands. Let me see your own carbon dating results.
See, it's impossible for anyone to do this, so even an athiest is not allowed to fault a Bible Scholar for using other people's research, because any atheist, evolutionist, scientist or creationist does and HAS to use other people's work and research. Not only that, but every segment of person operates on some type of faith. You have to have faith to believe in evolution just as much as creation. You didn't live during the dinosaur age, nor when coal and oil were being formed. So I have just proved that even an atheist has to have faith. Yes, they claim their scientific results prove the statements they make, but remember, science used to teach that the earth was flat and that the sun rotated around the earth. Science changes and what science presents as fact today will most certainly change later if and when they gain knew knowledge.

So, why do I believe in the Bible? Why do I quote from it?
Because unlike science, it hasn't changed in thousands of years. It has predicted event years before those events happened. What some has posed as contradictions in Scripture I have found are not contradictions at all, but mistranslations and misunderstandings by the reader because said reader goes in with a preconceived notion of what the Bible is saying.

Now, I'll also go so far as to say even Christianity today doesn't understand the Bible, but put their own perceptions into it. If Paul and the apostles were on earth today, they would be horrified to see the condition of the church. And yes, I'm talking even about so called conservative churches, not just the liberal ones.
The main reason society will not believe the word of God is because the church and it's people are living like they do not truly believe the word of God either.
Think about it.

I am not an atheist. I am Jewish. However, i also dont like it when Christians use the bible to answer all questions and challenges.
We know that you were raised and conditioned to believe in the bible. I was also raised and conditioned to believe in the bible- the Old Testament though- not the New. (By the way, we dont refer to the Old Testament as such. The term Old Testament is a Christian thing) But when non-believers challenge our beliefs, they want us to talk to them in LOGIC.
Let me give an example what this is like. Someone hold up a book and says "I believe everything that it says in this book"- someone challenges them and says "Well how do you KNOW that what's written in this book is really true?" and the person answers "Because it says so in this book." Anyone can see how this is circular reasoning.
The bible is the book religious people believe in. When we are asked to prove that it's a true book, it is very annoying to hear answers right out of the book. That is not answering the question at all.

And I've learned it's hopeless using the Bible to attempt to show Christians the flaws, inconsistencies, and contradictions in it. For every single verse, or concept, or section from the Bible that I've used I hear indoctrinated patent answers like clicking on a tape recorder. "you've taken it out of context" "that translation isn't any good" "the original language explains it further" "only Holy Spirit filled people understand it" "you're just being prejudiced and insulting" "we believe in science too and the Bible proves it" And that is just the basic patent answers that you can imagine seeing the person with a glazed over look on their face and drool starting to come out of their mouth. I made a joke last night about Christians thinking the earth was flat. The response was that there was Christians involved in the space program so that means I'm being prejudiced and insulting. That is such a huge leap in logic to me that no bridge could ever cross that gulf. And yet, it made perfect sense to the person who said it. And I think that comes from having index cards memorized in their brain for come backs for every situation though many times there theory and attempt at logic falls flat into a circular argument that they can't see where they are going wrong.

People complain when reason-based answers are answered with quotes from the bible.

No one complains when a question about Christian doctrine is answered with quotes from the bible, unless the question itself is making a logical argument against a doctrine from Christianity.

In other words, people don't want pasted thoughtless answers to questions that require throughtful responses.

its not so much as quoting the bible that gets me on edge. its when they quote the bible and say "that answers it" without even thinking about it. people who do that dont even know their own religion. go ahead and quote the bible but then explain why you chose it and (this is a radical idea) think outside the box and come up with your own ideas once in a while. if my sister (very avid christian) can do it then im sure you guys can. unless you are insecure about your own religion.

sorry if i offended i started going on a rant there.

There is no book other than the bible but the bible is not an answer. Bible quotes are what someone resorts to when they have nothing else they can say and no words of their own to express themselves. Using the bible only supports the "your brainwashed" belief of Atheists and invalidates everything the Christian may post.

do atheists quote at u? nope they use their brains and common sense....

why must u always rely on some book to quote? if i ask u why u like a particular type of marmalade would u say wait wait i'll check the description on the back and tell u why i like that? no u'd explain in your OWN words why you like it...

so IN YOUR OWN WORDS CAN U PROVE THE EXISTENCE OF THE MIRACULOUS THINGS THAT JESUS IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE DONE??

have u seen him doing htese things? do u know anyone else who did? what proof is there? "oh there is the bible u know"

ohhh whatever!

It would then be logical for me to make the assumption that Christians are incapable of an original thought.

Besides... for almost every quote they give, there are 5 that contradict it.
We don't mind 5000 word bible quotes if we ask for them, but when the question says something like "why did you become an atheist", we don't want to hear it.
