I like pastels especially, light jade and lilac. Another good pastel combination would be light yellow and blue.

Lets start off with what you want in the bedroom. Chose what new furniture you want and I would recommend a light wood color instead of any dark cherry colors.
Once you have decided on the furniture and color then you create complimentary colors around the color of the furniture. You can go to a paint store and use their computers and put in the type of wood you have for your furniture and then look at the colors that the computer says will compliment that color.
For example - I love Oak - it is light and brown and matches almost anything. Cherry is dark and for old folks anyways.
Light brown is a beautiful earth tone color where you can easily match the paint or the wall paper that you want.
You will need items on the walls or on your book shelf that are red because they will stand out with brown.
I am assuming you will have a computer desk and the newer computers that will connect to the Internet so make sure you have a desk especially for your computer.
Once you have your colors picked out and lets say you want walls that off white- pick out some templates of things such as leafs or things you love that you can use to paint around the top of the wall where your ceiling meets it.
We have green leaves in our bed room and it matches the green plants and makes the room look like a decorator put it together.
That is all I can think of this late at night. I hope thing work out for you and your mom

I would not do pastels with white furniture, that as bad as a "Barbie or My Little Pony" theme room. It's too childish.
The best place to get ideas for room decoration, is the fabric store. They have lots of different color/pattern combinations. Sometimes you'll see a fabric that will just JUMP out at you. You'll like the colors or the shapes and you can tie those into your room designs. You can also buy some fabric as a "swatch" and match your paint and accessories to it.
For the walls go with a light/med tone. Nuetral or Earth tone shades are always a safe bet, and will be good for a long time. Furniture, I would go with something hardwood. It will be useful to you now and in the future, as it's much sturdier and will last longer.
Anyways, just remember to have fun, and go with your "gut". Only you can know what you like and you gotta spend your time in there so make sure you really like whatever your putting in it. Have Fun!!!

go to an art store and buy a painting or print for your room that you just cannot live without. use the colors in the picture to decide on bedding, throw rugs, walls, trim etc. also my fave idea is to visit a fabric store and pick my colors from the most beautiful piece of fabric in the store. you can use that fabric for curtains, spread, or if its to expensive, a throw pillow. my room is decorated in a dark aqua. taken from some fabric that i couldn't take my eyes off of. the colors are aqua, taupe, and cream. doesn't sound good together but after finishing the room its the prettiest in the house. you can also take you inspiration from something in nature such as fruit, vegs, flowers. pull all the colors from one particular thing. like artichoke hearts. they are green, a strange kind of purple and yellow. i've seen this scenario. was also very pretty. all in all the best approach is to observe the world around you and get your ideas from the things that tend to catch your eye the most, or seem the most interesting to you. these will be easier to live with the longest without getting tired of. good luck. and remember, the paint color can be changed.

Choose a color that when you see it brings a feeling of warmth and happiness. The color for the fur nature and the paint should give you the feeling of intimacy. It is your room. Do not be afraid to include an item that maybe a toy if those are to your liking.. A doll or stuffed animal is no sign of immaturity. Very famous stars have them in their homes. I have several from old movies and television when I was younger. They help me recall happy memories of my youth. People who really care about you will accept it as not a big deal. After all, the bedroom is a place of intimacy not open to public viewing and scrutiny. This is your room. It should honestly reflect your taste. Our bedrooms are a special place where we go to sleep, take inventory of apparel to be worn as the need arises, cry over our problems, dream of our future plans, vent our anger when we feel hurt, study, relax, reflect upon memories stored in our mental library of the mind, or just be alone. One who is confined to a bed by age, illness or accident also takes into this room food and medicine. Therefore, it should be vibrant with color and items that brings comfort or joy. O the bedrooms of our lives are very important environment of our human existence..

If you are allowed to paint the walls you might try using sponge technique to make some cool designs.
You could check out some websites to read information on remodeling and such.
You can also find some great ideas at home improvements stores like Lowes and Home Depot.

Just go with your favorite colors or go to the paint section of the store and see if any colors jump out at you. The suggestion with the fabric is a good one and helps a lot. I did this for my spare room, it has these big flowers on the fabric but they are like fun colored daisies (not old g-ma flowers). But then again I like other colors that would be good for your age just go wild and pick something that is fun for you. Pick colors that YOU like.

Buy some mid- range color furniture, like oak.
What color is the flooring, or can you pick that too?
Do you like brights, pastels, jewel tones, earth tones?
I would choose your favorite color as part of the scheme, and then pick 2 other colors or prints that go with them.
ex: blue with lavender and purple
red with gray and white
yellow with grass green and turquoise
sage with deep rose and pink
Go to the paint store, get free swatches, and brainstorm!

Choose whatever you want as the color of your furniture, then you can sellect the color of accessories, wall color etc. I'd go with a med. oak color of furniture, pale green walls, then blend in any colors of accent's you like. Red drapes and bedspread, or burgandy, or even dark green drapes. If you like the color blue, this would blend together well also.
