So like during their off-time are they ever allowed to drink?

No. It is against CENTCOM General Order 1. And they are not stationed in Iraq. They are deployed here. I saw someone get 45 days of extra duty and 45 days of restriction for taking a sip of alcohol, but I'm in the army. I'm not sure that the marine corps punishment would be.

US Military personnel deployed in Iraq are not allowed to drink alcohol on- or off-duty.

An attack could happen at anytime, so the soldiers would be in great danger if they had been drinking before attack. Mostly though, it is against the Iraqi culture to consume alcohol. So the answer is no & no.

No. United States military are not allowed to consume or have possesion of any alcohalic drinks while in Iraq. Technically neither are the Iraqis... it is against Muslim culture to consume alcohal.

Not at all. One of my troops got busted down to E-2 after being caught with alcohol.

No, not while in Iraq. But on the way back, they can. My husband was able to drink LIMITED amounts of beer in Italy & other places they stopped at. I'm not sure about R&R, but when they did let him, it was very limited.

no alcohol is allowed at all to any soldiers in Iraq but somehow they still purchase it from the locals...

The commanding general said he didn't want to see a single beer can on the ground. That's why they have dump trucks.

no, no alcohol is supposed to be there, some gets thru though occaionally but the persons uually get caught and punished

No, but in my husband's case, they made a special exception on Super Bowl Sunday.
