If you claim to be an athiest, then why are you looking in the Religion & Spirituality section?
If this sounds rude, I appoligize. I do not mean for it to come across that way. I'm just curious.
If you don't believe there's a GOD, why waste your time with the matter.
If I were that sure, that there was no Big Foot, for instance, I'd never waste my time reading about a big foot or about the people who do believe in them.

Amen brother, They visit here to post their arguments that God doesn't exist not to try to convince us but because they continually need to convince themselves. Deep down they believe in something, but they don't want to because they are afraid God Will interfere with what they want to do. They want to do whatever they want without fear of consequences. If there is a God then they will have to be accountable for their actions. That's why someone can kill 32 people and think he can get away with it by killing himself, But guess what there is a God and right now God is holding him accountable. He got away with nothing.

They are trying to save you. I don't have a label, so I give up hope on all of you a long time ago. This is a great place to find a Laugh or two. Simple as that. Do you have any idea how much fun it is to get a religious person all worked up? Its hilarious when you know that thier beliefs are a pile of lies littered with a pin of truth. Just like, you curse the nonbelievers and pray jesus will save them or they will go to hell and all that mess. This is entertainment. The other sections are boring. Have a laugh!

I don't believe in any gods. But I believe that belief in the God of Old Testament is a kind of neurosis that mankind needs to outgrow. For the sake of the world, and for the sake of the world my children will grow up in, I have decided to actively try to educate people about the harmful effects of religion. Can you name a better forum than this one for my purpose?

"If I were that sure, that there was no Big Foot, for instance, I'd never waste my time reading about a big foot or about the people who do believe in them"

But what if Big Foot was all over the laws, in schools, in politics, on the money? What if Big Foot's 10 commandments were written on courthouses? What if people started to yell that if you don't believe in Big Foot, you'll burn forever in a lake of fire? What if homosexuals were denied the right to marry, because some people believe Big Foot said so?

What if they were passing laws based on a belief in Bigfoot? What if people were trying to teach in public schools that Bigfoot exists? What if other people's rights were being denied based on a belief in Bigfoot? What if people were going around saying that if you don't believe in Bigfoot, you'll suffer unimaginable torture until the end of time? Don't you think you'd start caring then?

you're not just curious. you're s. i'm just curious. i'm here because i often read questions with ridiculous heading on the ya! mainpage that are in the r&s section. a lot of these questions are directed at atheists, so i naturally assume atheists are invited to discuss religion. i didn't realize you were asking that question without wanting a response.

I believe evolution is a hoax, but I still read about it.
I don't believe a lot of things in science fiction stories can ever really happen, but I still like reading science fiction.

As one who is faithful myself, S, look at it this way. Those that don't believe are "curious" and like the devil love to "taunt" those "they" feel are weaker mentally than they are. You and I both know weakness is only of those who can't find peace and being on here is an "opportunity" to win a few for the Lord in heaven..............

Well, put it this way...there is a "Mythology & Folklore" section, and people go there because they find mythology interesting. I come here because I find mythology interesting.......

Besides, I like it here! There's a lot of knowledgeable, well-spoken people here and I like to read their answers! So, may I have your permission to stay?

Because I get the pleasure of listening to religious jargon in almost every aspect of my life... my front door, my TV, my mailbox, my government. So until I can continue my life without the constant religious rhetoric, I will voice my little opinion on here!
