I just had my ignition on my 1997 ford tarus replaced. My interior lights stay on even with the car off.Someone said that it could be the ignition module that is causing it.Could it be that?If so how much does that cost?I thought that I had that replaced? If that's it where is it?Any help would be much appreciated.

The ignition switch isnt the problem --it is the interior courtesy light switch part #xf1z-10b987-aa it is about 15.00 bucks at a dealership--where it is at is inside your door panel in the latch that grabs the striker when you shut the door ---sometimes you can spray wd-40 in that area to free it up -it gets dirty and hangs up that is why the lights stay on

i doubt that the problem is in the ignition module. those two circuits have absolutely nothing to do with each other. sounds like a wire in the door to the door pin switch is shorting out. you may want to check with ford for any recalls for this type of situation.

Luckly I myself own a 99 Ford Taurus SE. I really dont think the problem is your ignition necessarily but the wiring that was done when replacing your ignition. Best bet is to get the wirings checked out, something was not put where it was supposed to.

I noticed by your avatar, you may be blonde (I like blondes and I mean no disrespect). have you checked your interior light switch? the one that makes the dash lights go bright and dim? it can turn the interior lights on if its moved all the way past the brightest setting. if thats not the problem, you may need a door switch.
