It depends upon if you have the adventurous type of kids who will do anything just to see what happens...let's carefully catch one and pull it's wings off!!! or the practical type who know someone who ballooned up an instant after a bee sting and know what a bee/wasp/hornet can do. If you and others around you model the behavior and you put the leave em alone attitude in their heads, eventually they will. Swatting them only angers them and leads to being stung so if they know that they will probably stay out of the clover patch or the daisy garden or whereever they are playing and the bees are too.

It depends on the child. I've always refused to hurt bees, most children are taught not to hurt bees to prevent stings. However, there are a number of "little devils" out there who will "dissect" anything.

I think it depends also on what type of bee. A bumble bee is a bizarre thing but easy to catch where as a honey bee is more agile and less likely to be harmed if they can't get in the hands of the child.

I'm over 4 and I refuse to hurt a bee too. So I guess that answer is YES

What a strange question. Why would anyone want to hurt a bee? How would age make a difference?
I suppose the answer would be contingent upon the child.

When I was four i stayed as far away as possible, b/c i didnt want to get stung. They dont not want to hurt the bees, they just dont want to get hurt themselves, if that makes sense

It really depends on the kids. Some are afraid of them and some may try to kill them.

I don't think you can generalize this.
