My cat was messing with a bird looks like a female finch ( http://animals.timduru.org/dirlist/bird/misc/SudiaBirdPhoto_089-PurpleFinch-Female.jpg ) something like that. It is about 3 inches so I am assuming it is not a baby. The only thing is it seems really mellow which i wouldn't incorporate with a adult wild bird. What should i try to do with it such as feeding and watching over it. It doesn't fly but has flapped its wings...it doesn't seem hurt just maybe alittle shocked. What should I do

The bird just flew....made it maybe 25 feet...seemed rather healthy but just a little weak to fly further... At this point should i just keep it in a box and give it a couple hours of rest or what?

The bird needs to get to a wildlife rehabber ASAP, cat attacks are always serious. Cat saliva is deadly to birds, it contains number of harmful bacteria and the bird needs to go onto antibiotics soon, as well the bird may have sustained other injuries (ex broken bones' punctured air sac etc) which need to be looked at. For now place the bird in a cardboard box and keep it covered until you can get it to a licensed rehabber, and avoid peeking in it as it will stress the bird (and make sure the cat can't reach it...). If you aren't sure where your closest center is call your local vet / humane society or look on this site http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contact.htm .
edit following added details: No don't let it go, call a rehab center, the bird may seem fine for now but once the cat saliva kicks in it will go downhill from there, as well 25 feet isn't normal flight so there's something wrong there as well, probably has an injury.

You need to contact a wildlife rehabber ASAP. Cats have a bacteria in their saliva that can kill a bird whether there is an injury or not (usually within 24-48 hours), the bird now needs antibiotics to counteract the bacteria. If it is flapping both wings and the bird is holding both wings up neatly against the body, then it is a baby not an adult. The bacteria will make the bird seem stunned or lethargic. Keep it in a small box with a secure lid in a warm, dark, quiet, place until morning. Contact a wildlife rehabber first thing.

If the chicken won't have the ability to fly, it is not wonderful and not in great subject. Doves get broken wings very incredibly, rather on the shoulder. Is considered one of its wings drooping? whilst cat's get wild birds there is generally situations inner injuries. Has it long previous to the bathing room. there may be blood in that's stool. do not supply it nutrition. supply it Gatorade or something like that. yet another factor that occurs is the cat breaks or punctures the exterior and it gets cat scratch fever. particular there is this type of factor. It kills if not taken care of quickly. in case you have an animal emergency on your area, PLEASE call them for a itemizing of untamed chicken rehabilitators on your area. the formerly the greater helpful. If that's in ask your self you may desire to shop it in a heat place and not subject it. it is not a puppy or new toy. It needs help.

Give it time, perhaps the little bird will come out of shock. Give it a small bowl of water and some finch seed. I think the little bird will come out of it. Be careful of ceiling fans and open toilets, any standing water. A little bowl of water will work for a bird bath. Perhaps it's someone's lost pet

last time my tomcat brought me a bird it looked really bashed up. i watched and after a few hours it stil barely moved so i simply killed it. name me a murderer, but i wont see the creature suffer from internal injuries.

If you do not wish to keep it and it will not fly then take it to a pet store and give it to them, they'll take it. try to give it time to fly though so it can be released near where you found it, if possible
