No. parking violations are a non-moving violation and have no effect on insurance premiums of driver's license status. In addition, your driving record is not ruined or affected in any way. Just pay the fine and pay attention next time.

I read the above answers and they are all correct, except the one about it not showing up on the system. In the computer age it's on the official record the second it's issued, you can even look it up on the internet.
Your driving record is not ruined, I understand your angry, it could have happened to anyone, sometimes you pull into an empty spot and rush out and don't look and the sign is put high up on a light post -- Reserved for Permit Holders.
But if you do get too many parking tickets it can affect how much it costs to renew your car's licence tags. There was a news story on 20/20 about people who had nasty surprises, but with just one, you are not in any trouble.
It's just that some cities have limited parking and people get steamed when they have paid for the permit for a permit area and a car without a permit has taken the spot.
Unfortunately selling permits is a good revenue flow without raising taxes so the enforcers tend to keep a careful watch. When you see a spot if the curb is painted a different color than all the others in your city, if it is, look around for a sign.
Buy the permit, if you really need it. It's cheaper in the long run.

I live in mich. and here parking tickets do not create points on your licence. The only thing is, if you neglect to pay the ticket they can suspend your licence which will cause points. I know they are not really concerned with minor nn- moving violations unless they are excessive so your insurance should not be affected. If it doesnt appear on your driving record they dont know about it, unless you tell them but even then I doubt it will affect your premium. It never did mine.

If the car wasn't moving, it wasn't a traffic violation. Parking tickets and citations are left on the car's record but does not have any effect on insurance rates or anything like that.

Parking tickets are not moving violations; therefore no traffic school, or increased insurance premiums. Hope that spot was worth $43.
And I hope this helps.

Pay the ticket, over pay the ticket, meaning pay a few dollars too much. Pay ticket by check before you go to court, send the check through the mail. They will send you back a check for what you paid over. Never cash the check. They can't close out your ticket, therefor it won't show on your record. Since its not on your record yor insurance can't go up. A state police in IL, told me this. And it really workd.

Tickets affect insurance because the more tickets, the higher the premium will be paid for insurance.
