Hey Cindy.
(Matthew 5:27-28) . . .YOU heard that it was said, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to YOU that everyone that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Having the thought enter the mind is not the problem.... not dealing with the imperfect thought after it is in the mind, is the problem.

Sexual thoughts are a natural part of humanity. Men and women, Christian or not, everyone has sexual thoughts...it's how God wired us. What matters is what you do with them.
Jesus did say the whole "whoever looks at a woman lustfully" thing. However, there's no reason to walk around feeling dirty all the time because you see a hot guy or girl and like the way they look.
But after you've first seen that person and decided whether you think they're attractive or not, you decide what to do with that. If you start idolizing that person's body and dwelling on it for your own personal pleasure, then you're being lustful. If you can still look at that person as a valued human being, a child of God, while recognizing that they happen to be attractive, then there's nothing wrong with that.

OOOH, this is a tuff question.
We know, because Jesus taught us, that sin begins in our minds. When we lust after a certian person, we are already having an affair with him in our minds. But what woman can say she has never looked at a hot looking guy and not had sexual thoughts? Come on, girls, be honest!
I think that there is a very fine line there. We look, we think "yummy" we go on about our business, knowing we will never see the guy again, or if we do, we will certainly never act on that passing thought.
The problem comes, I think, when we go back for a second look...a third...we begin to have serious fantasies about the guy, we begin to drool, we finally work up the courage....
Somewhere in there the thought becomes the sin.
It is at that point that we need to bring our bodies under subjection.
We need not cross that line, but when we do, we need to confess to God. He will help us to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and get back on the trail.
God knows every passing thought we have, and He knows the intentions of our hearts. These are not always the same.
I hope this helps, at least a little.
It helped me just typing it out ;-)
God bless you!

Jesus says that whoever looks upon someone with lust has comitted adultery with them in their heart. ( He is speaking to a man, but that does not mean women do not lust, so it goes both ways)
Sometimes it is hard, being human, many have that weakness. But with God all things are possible, and when you keep your mind focused on Him, and His will for you-- the less you will fill your mind with impure thoughts.
I dont think there is a single soul out there who has never had a sexual thought. We are all born into a sinful nature- and it attacks us quite often. Of course if this is a thought towards your spouse, that is different. But if it is lust for someone you are not married to, Jesus says this is considered adultery.
Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Matthew 5:28, "But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Only the most Enlightened people can approach sexual desires and lust in a platonic way.
The very nature of your human core, your ego is to desire. Is to attach yourself to sensations. Sexual desire as strong as it can be is only one in a deep sea of many.
It's only when one has the skill and awareness to bring equanimity into desire, that one experiences true peace, and views all other living things in a compassionate way as opposed to desirable way, which is a reflection of selfishness. Yet, this can take many lifetimes to achieve.
Don't be hard on yourself when you experience sexual desires. If it brings you misery (and it inevitably will) then when those sexaul sensations and thoughts arise, gently refrain from giving power to them. Stay neutral. Over the course of time of doing this repeatedly, the habit pattern of your mind will eventually change and you will be able to expand your perception of life.
Don't concern yourself with what the Bible says. It's just a book with a few scattered gems of awareness.
The scripture stated above was altered from it's original context and turned the act of generating sexual desire into something that's supposed to be shameful and disappointing in the eyes of God. But that is impossible. In the most simplest context, God is not a thing to have these human emotions.
You must decide if having sexual desires keeps you at a low level of awareness. But do not mistake that as bad. Or even good. It is simply, what it is. And it can always and will change.

Impure thoughts are going to pop into everyone's mind at times. We're all sinners and we have not yet been made perfect. But deliberately dwelling on it, in order to derive pleasure from it, is just as much adultery as the physical act.
In a way, even more so because our bodies are mortal, but our minds and souls will live forever in eternity.

No, it isn't a sin to have sexual thoughts. What is a sin is to cultivate thoughts of having sex in a sinful way and to contemplate how to bring it to pass because then you are agreeing in your heart that you don't care what God says about how you should live your life, you want to do what your flesh wants you to do.
Certainly a Christian man or woman could contemplate what it might be like to have sex with someone to whom they are attracted if they got married. But if the imagination of your heart is having illicit sex then you want to take that type of thinking captive.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Jesus in the strictest sense literally once said that to think sin is to be a sinner. Such statements are very hard teachings and hard to put into practice if you take them literally but I believe Jesus was trying to prove a simple point about sin. The world is dark and Heaven is light. Heaven inspires the good things and they lead to good deeds and great things. On the other hand, the world inspires evil things, evil thoughts and that leads to evil deeds.
But in general, the Bible teaches that your goal ought not be to committ ACTS of sin, after all, that is what convicts the person of sin is the action. Nobody I knew ever went to jail for THINKING a crime, but COMMITTING a crime. Jesus is simply warning us to be aware of the things that CAUSE us to sin and LEAD us to sin and stop it before it has a chance to blossom into sin.
