If you JUST got braces, stick to soft foods.
Jello, rice, soups, etc.
Overall, try to avoid sticky things. (desserts usually)
Cake, and cookies are HUGE culprits of getting caught on braces.
(but that doesn't mean you can't treat yourself to some treats every once in a while (; )
However, when something DOES get caught, it's not that bad.
A brush of the teeth does wonders.

If you just had the braces placed, then you need to eat soft foods like Mac & Cheese, soup, etc. If you have had them awhile and your teeth are not sore-then you can eat whatever you want-you just want to cut up the food-even if it is pizza or a sandwich-cut it up and place it in the back of your mouth so the food doesnt squish up into your front braces. I ate everything when I had my braces on. You get used to it. Just don't bite down on hard candy because it can bend your wire or cause a bracket to come off.

Honestly, I was told a whole lotta things I couldn't eat but I still managed to when I had braces. It's only the first few weeks that you can't eat much but that's because of the pain and getting used to the whole thing. Later, you do need to break things a bit...like someone said, cut an apple and such. But I ate pizzas, burgers, cakes, and even chocolates....just saw to it that I brushed my teeth really well.
So yea...I guess u can eat all u want, just make sure you brush well after eating.

I ate everything they told me not to..everything hard and crunchy even bubble gum( You just gotta know there's an orthodontist out there having a heart attack over that one...lol). When I first got them, I stuck to soft foods like bananas, mashed potatoes, soup, noodles, beans, canned veggies and fruits, mac & cheese, and eggs(anyway you like). As the pain went away, I ate what I wanted. The only food I stayed away from was popcorn. As others have suggested, cut up foods like apples, carrots, and meats into small bites and chew very well. If ever in any doubt, don't eat it. Happy braces:)

Yogurt, frozen yogurt, pudding, jell-o, ice cream =) (NO CHUNKS OR CHOCOLATE CHIPS), soft cheeses, soft foods like pancakes or muffins without nuts or soft pieces of bread without crust, soup, noodles (better in soup, easier to eat and softer), tofu, soft cooked fish, mashed potatos, steamed/softened vegetables, guacemole, hummus, apple sauce, baked apples, smoothies, cheesecake...
Oh and saltines are easy to mush in your mouth by pressing it against the roof of your mouth.
If you just got braces, I'd suggest eating those foods before eating harder foods like pears, apples, pizza, etc. *I found it a lot harder to bite into apples when I had braces, I had to cut them up.*

small bits of things, maybe that can be smashed in your mouth, melted in your mouth, chewed with back teeth, NO biting with the front teeth, so just remember this saying: past the lips, over the teeth, look out mouth here it comes...LOL
and i know it is not the way it is suppose to go, but this one words in your case.
