Bottled water, we were told, is cleaner, safer, healthier.
Watching bottled water ads, you'd think that tap water might not be healthy. But it's not true.
"20/20" took five bottles of national brands of bottled water and a sample of tap water from a drinking fountain in the middle of New York City and sent them to microbiologist Aaron Margolin of the University of New Hampshire to test for bacteria that can make you sick, like e. coli.
"There was actually no difference between the New York City tap water and the bottled waters that we evaluated," he said.
Many scientists have run tests like that and have consistently found that tap water is as good for you as bottled waters that cost 500 times more.

This is a big debate...tap water DOES have flouride but, too much flouride is bad...bottled water is supposed to be better i.e. cleaner but, is it really? Also, bottled water is a big waste as far as the environment goes...all the extra plastic in the landfills and all the chemicals in the air due to the making of the bottles and travel to get the water to where it needs to go...just get a home water purifier like Pur or Britta or something...

Where I live unfortunately I don't have flouride in my tap water, so I prefer to drink bottled water. And also, my tap water doesn't taste as good. However, I don't necessarily think tap water is better over bottled water or vice versa.

Not all tap water has flouride added - you need to check with your municipal water district to see if your water is flouridated.
Yes flouridated water is good for preventing tooth decay is recommended, that's why pediatricians will prescribe flouride drops for children who live in cities/towns that do not have flouridated water.
You could also purchase bottled water with flouride, but do not drink too much as it will turn your teeth dark.

My Mum used to work in a Lab that tested waters - more bugs in bottled water than in tap water!

That depends where you are. Some cities' water systems are so contaminated that the water is just plain gross. In other cities, the tap water tastes just like bottled water. (Rather, it is tasteless, as water SHOULD be.)
