That's a good reason to take tylenol. If you just hurt the pinkie, put some ice on it for 10 minutes, off for 10 minutes, back on for 10 minutes. If it's been over 48 hours since you bruised it, try some warm soaks to help break down the blood under the skin.

Yes. Advil or Aleve might be better, though, because bruising is just inflamation and those medication treat inflamation whereas Tylenol is only a painkiller, not an anti-inflammatory and does not address the inflamation problem.
And to the answerers who have mentioned getting hooked and taking it without really needing it... you do know this person is talking about plain old, over the counter TYLENOL, right? YOu did read that part?

Tylenol can help a little with the swelling and soreness, since it is an anti-inflammatory drug. Motrin or Advil (ibuprofen) may be better though. If you just bruised it, like within the last 24 hours, try some ice to bring the swelling down. Otherwise, warm packs or soaking in warm water is also a good idea after the first day; since it will make more blood flow to the pinky and heal faster.

Yes, but also you may want to try using arnica to help heal the bruise. You can find it at natural health food stores, or a Latin store if you don't have a natural health food store close by. This is a natural product that is very good for helping bruises heal. Not sure if bigger chain pharmacies carry it but you can call and ask to see if they do.

Sure, just don't get hooked on the stuff. But while you're in pain, you can take 1,000 mgs of generic tylenol (save $$) every 4 to 6 hours as needed.

Don't second guess it! I thought I sprained a pinky, splinted it--I had broken it at the knuckle joint and it bends, but it is deformed from fluid that hardened around the joint. The only fix would have been to re-break it. I declined because I had full mobility. Sooooo-go to the emergency room and be X-rayed.

I would do a rotation of Tylenol and Motrin. You can take them both together the first time and then alternate them after that...

As long as there's no open wound, take ibuprofen...but if there's an open wound, take Tylenol. Ibuprofen will work better as a pain killer, but will thin your blood and cause you to bleed more if you are cut.
