I know it doesnt help you. But you may be saying something similar when you are old too! They are trying to make you feel better. What you want is probably more sympathy and them to say
'Oh I am so sorry. That is a huge problem for you. Here let me give you money or let me do your homework for you! ' But no such luck.
Well at least you do have family. Some poor children whose families we bombed in Iraq do not. ( See I did the same thing trying to make you feel better I chose some people worse off-sorry!)

Yeah, but just think of all the 'cool' things you can say to your kids!
When I was your age I had to carry quarters around in case I needed to make a phone call. Kids your age didn't have cell phones and ipods in my day! LOL

The one I always heard was "You kids have it so easy. When I was a kid, we had to walk to school 5 miles in the snow, barefoot and uphill both ways."

I can't wait until I have children so I can give them that lecture.

I didn't know parents and grandparents still did that.
I think that kids now have a harder life than I did, even though there may be more material things. There are so many bad things happening now, that used to be rare.

yes i always hear that. most parents and grandparents are like that. and its very annoying sometimes because they keep on repeating it. but its their only way to tell you that be serious in your studies because not all students have the same situations with you. so you must be thankful and do your job to make them happy. if you got irritated to what they always said. just put a cotton on your ears because im sure you memorize already the things they are going to say like i do. just try your best to have the best performance at school so that they will stop repeating their lines.

Have you actually thought that what they are saying is TRUE ... that they REALLY Had to walk that far to go to school ... because ... well ... no school buses, no public transportation, and yes, no matter what ... things went on even while snowing or white-out conditions or blizzards or rain, etc?

YES ... this is true!
