It's usually common for there to be some swelling after surgery. My mother-in-law had a triple bypass (heart surgery) and her whole body swelled especially her face, it was about 4 times it's normal size. As for the solution. I'm sure the doctor(s) are keeping a close eye on her. They'll be on top of it should anything happen.

anytime there is surgery done on the brain, there will be swelling, it is to be expected, and the swelling is likely responsible for her blood pressure at this time. The doctors I am sure are aware and doing what they can to minimize the swelling with medications, but they are not gods and cannot control every bodily response. Yes, I am sorry, she is in some danger, any surgery is a risk, but it sounds like surgery was the lesser of two evils, the tumor or the risk. The one would most certainly have killed her, while the surgery gave her a fighting chance. The doctors have the medications and knowledge to use them, and really that is all that can be done for her at this point. Whether or not those medications work for her this time, no one can tell. If you believe in God, you might try offering up a prayer, but know that His will is what will be done, not yours.

My heart goes out to you...I assume she is in the hospital; for swelling of the brain, often a "shunt" is inserted to drain the fluids that are building up. Doctors don't usually suggest this on the immediate (there is a risk for infection), however they will likely suggest it if this continues. I would go for it. Ginko helps dilate blood vessels (reducing bp), as do many meds...I wish you all the best, and will pray for your mamma. Peace.

Brain swelling is never good. That could lead to Edema. It leads to a condition knowns as Intra cranial Pressure, and it needs to be relieved or it could cause an aneurysm. There are a lot of things a swollen brain could do. The blood pressure is obviously really really high, which could lead to heart attack or stroke, but that's the easier one to treat. They may need to go in and drain your mothers head if Edema occurs. Yes I would be worried, but I'm sure the doctors are used to dealing with this, so I'm sure they wont let anything happen to her. Good luck.

I think it is not a good idea to post this question in public darling. I advise that you talk to the doctor because only the doctor can tell you exactly what's happening with your mom. Have confidence with her doctor/s. I'm sure he is/they are doing the best for your mom. With all my prayers.

Does the doctor know? I don't know what is supposed to/not supposed to happen but if you are AT ALL worried about ANYTHING we are not the people to be asking!! Ask the doctors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
