It really depends. You're old enough to get it done if you want. But, if you're living under your parens roof or they're paying the way for college, you need to think of the consequences. If you go against their wishes, will they withdraw thier support? Will it cause a lot of fighting and arguments? Do you want to deal with all of that so you can have a tongue piercing?

If you're leaving for college soon, then why not wait untill then?

This sounds like me.. I wanted my tounge pierced for about 6 mths and my mom wouldnt let me do it and since you have to be 18 there wasnt any way I was getting it done. On my 18th bday after we went out to eat, I went and got it done. It didnt hurt at all.. Since it was my bday I didnt get home till later the next day. She knew something was up because I wasnt really eating or talking to her. She found out the next day. She hates it. I recently took it out, just because I was getting tired of it. I had it for about 1 yr and a half. But hey if youo get it done and you decide you dont want it, you can take out and it will close up. Good Luck

You're an adult, so you can do what you want. Since you have mixed feelings, though, then you need to figure out why. Is it JUST that you're worried about disapproval, or are you worried more about possible complications? Think about this carefully before you make a decision!

Hey..you're 18..yes..under the law,you are fully responsible for the action u ve done..BUT the law did not agree on going against your parent.Dont get influnce by those crackheads out there. there's always a saying.."your flesh n blood is what your mum gave you n belong to her".Respect her decision.

I got mine done when I was 18, I am now almost 23 and still love it! With a piercing you have the choice of removing it if you decide you really don't like it, and it will heal. My parents still don't like it, but they support my decision to do what I wanted to do and going through with it.

Your mom might give the old lecture, "If you are under my roof, then you will do as I say". Might want to be careful because at 18, mom can kick you out and no longer be responsible for you.

Your 18 so it really is up to you. Just be ready for all the criticism that goes along with having it done. When I first got mine done I was called a lesbian. So be prepared for the worst.

Do you live at home? Choices - housing or piercing? Do you pay rent if you do live at home? If yes, go ahead and do it. If no better wait until you live on your own.

BTW - I have my tongue pierced and you can't talk correctly for 4 days (some people take up to 10 days) afterward.

Yeah, sounds like a great idea. Besides the possibility of loosing the taste in your mouth, having your tongue swell, and having the backs of your teeth chip because of constant impact sounds like fun.

well.. its your choice.. But if you could, try talking to your mom. Ask her why not. She should understand its what you want. If she doesn't.. its your decision. Just think of all that can happen because of a lounge pierce.. Infections, diseases.. You should watch out. I understand your mother. She is just wishing whats best for you.
