Learning to cook comes from watching and learning then by trial and error. Children learn as early as 2 or 3 by making a peanut butter sandwich. If you can realize that everyday you learn something just by watching or trying then you can become a very good cook.

I started when I was a young child by watching my mother and learning her techniques and now I cook alot like she did. I'm now in my 50's and my family is lucky that I picked up my families talents.

Good luck and keep learning by trial and error.

I had done some low-grade cooking; but I did not decide to learn how to put together recipes, by science, and imagination, and to prepare food in several ways. I learned from a Greek Chef, John Gianakos, books, and my Mother, who was an expert. I was 33 when I began combining flavors and boiling water, designing salads and soups, etc.

When I was 18 and moved out I couldn't even cook Kraft Mac n' Cheese. I learned how to cook after that, and now everyone loves my food. My daughter cooked me and her dad breakfast by herself when she was 8 for the first time.

I started cooking with my Mum and Nan quite young, around four I guess I was helping out. Cooking by myself probably happened around age 8!

I started from 9 - pan fried eggs / cooked rice with electrical rice-cooker / instant noodle / boiled vegetables / egg fried rice...etc. when my mom wasn't home!

At the age of 12, I had home economic classes at school (only 3 years), so I learned more basic techiques about preparing western food at school, but also "stole" my dad's cooking skills by watching him cooking near the door of the kitchen (he still doesn't like anyone in the kitchen when he's busy!)

I started baking at the age of 7. I'm still a lousy baker,
but I'm a great scratch cook! Spicy and flavorful, ya know?
