I hate to cut and paste, but
"In an 1861 letter from W.W. Phelps to Brigham Young quoting Joseph Smith: `It is my will, that in time, ye should take unto you wives of the Lamanites and Nephites, that their posterity, may become white, delightsome and just.' In the 8 December 1831 Ohio Star, Ezra Booth wrote of a revelation directing Mormon elders to marry with the `natives'" (Sunstone, November 1993, footnote #5, pg. 52).
Second LDS President Brigham Young stated in 1859, "You may inquire of the intelligent of the world whether they can tell why the aborigines of this country are dark, loathsome, ignorant, and sunken into the depths of degradation ...When the Lord has a people, he makes covenants with them and gives unto them promises: then, if they transgress his law, change his ordinances, and break his covenants he has made with them, he will put a mark upon them, as in the case of the Lamanites and other portions of the house of Israel; but by-and-by they will become a white and delightsome people" (Journal of Discourses 7:336).
At the October 1960 LDS Church Conference, Spencer Kimball utilized 2 Nephi 30:6 when he stated how the Indians "are fast becoming a white and delightsome people." He said, "The [Indian] children in the home placement program in Utah are often lighter than their brothers and sisters in the hogans on the reservation" (Improvement Era, December 1960, pp. 922-3).
During the same message Kimball referred to a 16-year-old Indian girl who was both LDS and "several shades lighter than her parents..." He went on to say, "These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and to delightsomeness. One white elder jokingly said that he and his companion were donating blood regularly to the hospital in the hope that the process might be accelerated"
It's in the doctrine and culture. Naitive Americans are still being shamelessly exploited by mormon theology.

White and delightsome could have a non secular connotation. In different words, after we do not have the gospel, we are residing in darkness, yet after we do have the gospel, we develop into enlightened and for that reason the change from darkish to gentle. it really is real that the e book of Mormon shows that the curse of darkness develop into taken from them they grew to develop into white like unto the Nephites. no matter if it really is truly a pores and skin transformation or a non secular one isn't totally sparkling. I really have continuously theory it develop right into slightly both, the outer visual attraction being symbolic of the interior visual attraction. Why would not it ensue perfect now? perchance that is not mandatory to make that dramatic enormous distinction perfect now or perchance we lack adequate faith. i do not comprehend. What i comprehend is that the gospel transforms a existence of non secular darkness right into a existence of non secular enlightenment.

What??? Even as an ex-Mormon, that doesn't make sence to me, In the Book of Mormon, God put a Mark on the lamenites who are suppose to be the Indians, who were suppose to be the Jews, if I remember my Book of Mormon history correct and if I am wrong, I am sure a true Mormon will correct me with a web page and link, but I know that once you are marked by God, the skin color is in your DNA and won't be changed back. That would mean that Cain's mark would be removed after time, if you remember int he Mormon KJV Bible that what it says happent to Cain, and from what you are saying then, Cain should have his Mark fade as well.

In my reading of the BOM, I recall that when some indians of that time 'became Mormons', they didn't turn white either. Bty, I'm not a Mormon.

I'm not actually answering this question, I'm adding to it. The book of Mormon says that there was a great battle between the indians. If this were true, why is there not any archeological proof of such a great battle?

That's why it was revised, because it's not saying they will become Caucasian. It's like in the Bible where it says "Tho your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white has snow" or something like that.

It's called symbolism. White has more meanings than Caucasian. Especially around 600 BC when the record began.
Have a good day! :)

Because those white people were specifically told not to mix the seed with the natives (or any other brown skins). They were only being nice enough so they could invade the reservations with those buildings.

It doesn't just happen like that BAM! It happens over multiple generations if the descendents stay worthy. Then each generation gets a little lighter in color.

Because the Book of Mormon is even more screwed up than the Bible it is based on. Total fabrication by a clever con man.
