I love those people in the cults and want to do what I can to make sure they know the truth before they go into eternity and try to cash their counterfeit salvation check.
The Bible says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," 2 Timothy 3:16
What about the book of Mormon, Catholic & The Orthodox book of Catechism, Islamic Koran, Shinto, Buddist, etc?

Somewhere during the last 50 years, we have lost the concept of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Much of the last part of the second world war was fought to serve, protect, and acknowledge those freedoms.
Now it has become popular, publicly ridicule anyone who doesn't hold the same beliefs as we do, whether we'd be taken, Christian, Hindu, Muslim or whatever....
It is a sad state of affairs, and a symptom of moral, ethical and intellectual decline.

It becomes bashing when you fail to show the same respect to others as you would have for yourself. Just switch the name of your belief with the name of their belief. If you find the result offensive, then you have beem bashing them, even if you didn't mean to do it.
Remember, Jesus and the Apostles never wrote or spoke English. Everything you read in an English version of the Bible has beem translated by fallible humans. Don't take the text word for word. The real 'Gospel Truth' is to teach by example and do what Jesus would do. Show compassion and charity to all. Even Samaritans can be good, otherwise why did God create them ? Don't tell God his business and stop being so prideful and self-righteous.

There are thousands of people that run around telling people what NOT to believe in, what NOT to read, and who ISN'T teaching truth. Those are bashers.
Teach what you believe in. Teach that Christ is your Saviour or than Monkeys are your grandpa, I don't care, but teach what you believe.
It's amazing how many people spend their time and money telling what people NOT to believe.
Joseph Smith said something to the effect of: "People can leave the church, but they can't leave it alone". You see that over and over again regarding ex-Mormons. After all....how many "ex-catholics" do you hear about?
Any words that were written by Prophets of God should be considered Scripture. How do you know that all of the writings of all of the prophets ended up in the Bible? Why is it so hard to believe that God had prophets on more than one continent? Why wouldn't God continue to have prophets speak his words to the people of earth?
Remember, throughout the Bible there were always people that ridiculed the prophets and those who believed in them.
Have you considered that you just might be ridiculing true prophets and true believers just as people 2000 years ago ridiculed Christ without knowing that he was the Messiah?

Yes 2 Timothy 3:16 does tell us that scripture is God-breathed but it does not tell us where it is. When those words were written there was no bible. So how much faith are you willing to put into roman clergymen forced by the government to decide? I put this question to the Spirit of truth since that is where Jesus said we should go for the truth. Funny how christians seem to so convienently forget that when they spout there memorized verses and propaganda theology. The Spirit of truth says that the christian church tried to destroy most of the good stuff, but it's still here. The Spirit is not at all happy with the christian church for misleading so many people away from the truth.

I disagree with the tenants of anything that opposes my understanding of God. I disagree and state my truth and it suddenly becomes bigoted and 'bashing' as you say. When, I merely stated my own truth.
I think the practice exists for the same reason the term 'race card' exists. It is an easy answer when one cannot debate their own understanding to disprove anyone else's understanding.
If I state a fact. It is easy to discount the fact(when the fact is a contradiction to the opposers own position and truth) by killing the fact's messenger with such terms as bigot and 'basher' by discounting the message under the impression that it is flawed by something internally corrupt within the messenger.
These terms are usually invalid when insinuated into debates that are rational and do not include name calling and ignorant observations, rather are debates founded in reason.
i.e.
To tell a Muslim his religion is not the correct one because Ishmael did not recieve God's blessing as the chosen progeny is a rational debate. To tell a Muslim he is a Muslim because he wants to sleep with 12 year olds is 'bashing' even though it is probable and plausible that it some times occurs, just as it is reasonable that many Catholic priests become Catholic priests because they want to sexually abuse little boys, which is inclusive of all priests, but one must state the truth as it is true. Some Catholic priests become priests for this reason, but also, some do not.
Do not categorize everyone into one particular truth. When describing everyone of the group, use only true desriptions.

Telling the truth isn't bashing, ever. But, when you're telling someone the truth about their religion, that you don't hold to be true, then it may be. Religion is a personal thing and is based on faith; religion cannot be proved by objective facts and/or evidence. Each person is free to believe as they will.
For a month or so I allowed some Jehovah Witnesses come into my home and share with me their beliefs. Before we began I explained to them I was pretty set in my own beliefs, but was happy to learn about their's. We also agreed, that when we came to a topic that we disagreed on, that we would just agree to disagree and move on after we each shared our views. It was a great experience. To me, we were sharing our faith and our purpose on life, but we weren't bashing. That is how it should be. We never tore down each others' beliefs nor belittled the other, but listend with an open mind and shared openly, with respect. Had I, when they explained their view of Jesus, said, "No, the bible teaches..." and "your scriptures are false and rewritten to support your beliefs, which are not in line with 'my bible'," then I would have been bashing. Rather, I listened, said that it was interesting, that it didn't match up with my interpretation, which was X, but I respect your view.
We should all have respect for each other and all peoples' beliefs. We should be open to other beliefs and take what good we find in them and use it for value. The scripture you site I believe is true, but must be used in context and most importantly, must be done in righteousness and in the spirit of Christ. The most effective way to teach is by example, which I believe Christ perfected. He rarely, if ever, argued. There is the one time he got angry at those who defiled the temple, but for the most part he taught to those who were open and willing to learn, and by example.
We should all emulate Christ more in our lives (you don't have to be Christian to see the positive lessons of life). We should seek out those things that are good and beneficial. I have studied hundreds of religions and learned many valuable lessons, but I also hold to my own faith, which I believe I have come to believe through testing, searching, meditation and prayer.
I believe even you know that when you say "I love those people in the cults" you are already creating a confrontational setting, which will likely lead to "bashing". It sets a tone of disrespect for others and their beliefs. That is, in my opinion, not the Christlike and effective way of "making sure they know the truth." Good luck.

Possibly when the men writing it they didn't have the forethought to put the irreputable sentence in there so people can believe and can always refer back to the sentence when people present them with insurmountable evidence.
Or in other words, the bible is the catch all be all of legalise. You can't argue with it since somewhere in it it states it is the end source of all knowledge. It is much like making the pope ifalliable. Whatever he says must be taken as absolute fact as if delivered by god. It is the truest of all circular logic and anyone would be wrong if they disagreed with it.

when did telling the truth become a lie? We tell people what we do and do not believe, and we are told, you don't believe that. Instead, the lie is held up as the truth.
But, when you don't tell the truth, that is bashing. We will tell you the truth, and then when you still believe and spread lies, then you are officially bashing.
2 Timothy 3:16 applies to the Book of Mormon as well as the Bible, since both are God-breathed, and useful for teaching, rebuking, etc. It says ALL scripture, not just the Bible.

Scripture is useful in doing all of those things. We should follow the teachings of the scripture. We should rely on the word of God. He has given a modern prophets to guide us, and to help keep his restored doctrine pure, as he restored to the prophet Joseph Smith. I am not sure what your argument or question is., but maybe I have answered it.
