he put out the army ranks for you already and officer ranks for marines, army and airforce.
Hopefully this will help you to understand the visual differences of the ranks for the military ranks.
chevrons- V
Rockers are like /\
However the chevrons and rockers are much wider but are like V shapes sort of and the rockers are upside down V shapes wide.
Remember when the rockers and chevrons are connected the are connected to each other by there ends leaving a gap between them
Marines e ranks:
e1-Private
e2-Private First Class
e3-Lance Corperal
e4-Corperal
e5-Sargent
e6-Staff Sargent
e7-Gunnery Sargent
e8-Master Sargent
e8-1rst Sargent
e9-Master Gunnery Sargent
e9-Sargent Major
e10-Sargent Major of the Marine corps
If you are trying to remember the insiginias for marines it is easy. its almost like army alot in many ways. Only difference is that army ranks are green and yelow. marines are red and and yellow. The marines gun shape thing is also like a similar shape as a Private first class of army which is the same e rank for lance corporal. The marine lance corperal has rifles in it though crossing each other making a X like look. The Rifles stay in the rest of the rank between the 1-3 chevrons and the 1-3 rockers. They stay in all the ranks until they reach 1rst sargent. BUt like army they dont rockers until they reach staff Sargent. The first sargent like in the army gets a Diamond shape in between the chevrons and rockers, where the rifles were.
Then Master gunnery sargent has this weird thing instead of the diamond shape its sorta like a arrow head but smooth edged and facing up with a circle at the bottom of it. then color it in all yellow and thats how it looks. For Army instead of master gunner sargent it has a Sargent major. the sargent major has a star instead. Then in Army e9 rank Command sargent major has a star with oak leaves on noth sides of it.
Then e9 sagent major has a star alone itself.
Navy Enlisted ranks
e1- Seamen recruit ( no insignia)
e2-Seamen Apprentice( 2 slashes)
e3-Seamen (3 slashes)
e4-Peddy Officer 3rd class- it has 1 [red]rocker the swords above it and the eagle.
e5- Peddy Officer 2nd Class- Same as peddy officer 3rd class but with an extra red rocker.
e6-Peddy Officer 1rst Class- Same as the other peddy officer ranks but with all 3 rockers
e7-Chief Peddy officer-(3ockers[but are now yellow], the american eagle the swords as well. Practicly same thing as Peddy Officer 1rst class but the rockers are yellow. But there is a chevron sorrounding where the sword is at and the sword is in between the the top rocker and chevron. The Chevron is underneath the american eagle
e8-Senior Chief Peddy Officer- same as Chief Peddy Officer except that the sowrds are missing and you got one gold star on top.
e9-Master Chief Peddy Officer- same as a Senior Chief peddy officer except that it has 2 stars instead. 2 on top of the eagle. the sword is still missing remember that but the chevron is still there connected to the top rocker.
e9-Fleet or Force command master chief Peddy officer- Same thing as a Master chief peddy officer except that it has 3 stars this time. the third star is where the sword was supposed to be before.
e10- Master Chief Peddy Officer of the Navy- Same thing as A fleet or force command master chief peddy officer except that it has 3 stars on top of the eagle one star between the chevron and the top rocker.
US enlisted coast guard ranks-
e1- one slash- most interesting rank to me because this is the only branch and rank that has a insiginia for e1's
e2-e7 are virtually identical to the us navy ranks. however the sowrds never leave the insiginia untill e10 for coast guard.
also the names for the rank are all the same as navy except for one ofthe e9 ranks, e9- Command Master cheif, instead of force or fleet command master chief peddy officer
e8- same as a navy e8 rank except the sword does not leave the insiginia. white star instead of yellow
e9- master chief peddy officer- same as navys except that it has the swords. this rank has 2 stars like navy but the stars are white
e9- Command Master Chief- same thing as a coast guard master cgief peddy officer except that the stars change to yellow color.
e10-Master Chief Peddy Officer of the Coast Guard-
its the sam ething as the e9 Command Master Chief rank except that the swords are replaced by this other thing. im not sure what it is. From the paper that i got with the ranks its really hard too see what it is. i gotta ask what its called again. Looks sort of like a shield though or a eagle shaped shielf. cant really tell.
Airforce enlisted ranks- this is the most difficult enlisted rank from the military branches to remember but its not as hard as you might think as first. it looks complicated but once you notice the pattern its simple to distinguish.
e1- Airmen basic- no insignia
e2- Airmen- it has a a circle with an american star in it.and then its on top of a roker making it look sort of like it split the rocker in half alittle. I call these split rockers for now but i gotta ask what they are specifically called. Splitrockers for now so you can understand distinguising the insiginias. Because the officers and sargents care more about you being able to distinguish the the insiginias on how they look rather then knowing there pay grades. but you should know there pay grades too because it does help in understaing the chain of command for which rank is higher.
e3- Airmen First Class-2 split rockers but remeber it only has one american star.
e4-Senior Airmen- 3 split rockers.
e5- Staff Sargent- 3 split rockers and then underneath directly on the bottom half rocker is a full rocker
e6-Technical Sargent- 3 split rockers and 2 full rockers
e7-Master Sargent- Same as a technical sargent except that on the split rocker there is a chevron connected to it.
e7-1rst Sargent- This rank I dont get for the Airforce theres like three freakin 1rst Sargents. why not name one 1rst the other 2nd and the third 3rd. man. but its easy to recognize. Its the same thing as the rank right previous to it except that it has a diamond shape between the lowest chevron and the top rocker.
e8-Senior Master Sargent- same thing as a Master sargent but with an extra chevron on top also. making two chevrons, the bottom one connected to the top split rocker. with two other split rockers connected underneath it.and then underneath them directly touching each other two full rockers. Remember that the american star is splitting the the split rockers or at least giving it that look that its split them or is on top of them on them on the middle of em.
e8-1rst sargent- same as previous rank but with the diamond in the gap between the bottom chevron and the top split rocker.
e9-Chief Master Sargent- It has 3 chevrons, bottom chevon connect with the top split rocker with extra two split rockers and two full rockers underneath the split ones.
e9- 1rst sargent- same as a Cheif master sargent but with a diamond in between the gap of the bottom chevron and top split rocker.
e9- Command Chief Master Sargent- same as e9 1rst sargent but the diamond turns into a star.
e10- Chief Master Sargent- same as a Master sargent except that the star where the split rockers is at turns into a two oak leaves and an american star in between them. I think thats what it is was not sure though.
Coast guard and navy officer ranks
o1- Ensign
o2-Liutenent Jnior Grade
o3- Liutenant
o4- Liutenant commander
o5-Commander
o6-Captain
o7-Rear admiral lower half
o8 Rear admiral upper half
o9-Vice admiral
o10-Admiral
Special- Fleet Admiral - The only being that can earn this rank in the military i think is the president. Same for army, marines and Airforce officer ranks.

Depends on the branch of service as to what they're called but it goes from E-1 to E-9 for the enlisted ranks, W-1 to W-5 for the warrant officers and O-1 to O-9 for the commissioned officer corps. O-10 is only used in a time of war and it's an appointment, not a rank.
edit to note: It's PETTY officer, not Peddy. YingYang needs to do a lot of editing to his post. The Navy doesn't use "rockers", they're "chevrons". Actually, ignore most of what he posted since most of it is wrong.

It depends on the branch of service you are referring to. Do a search on military ranks. Here's something you might find enlightening.
