Atheists deny 100% of the gods.

Christians deny 99.99% of all the gods.

Polytheists deny far less than 99.99% of all the gods.

So, when related to polytheists, aren't Christians and atheists really, really close to believing the same thing? A 0.01% difference doesn't sound like much to me.

Well, as one could argue that Hinduism is a monotheistic religion in literally the same sense that Christianity is a monotheistic religion (Christianity has 3 persons in one God, Hinduism has an incredibly large number of beings as part of a singular Brahman), there are no real big polytheistic religions to feel close to these days other than the neopagans... And Christians seem to usually dislike them more than atheists because the bible denounces witchcraft more strongly than it denounces atheism.

incorrect. First, faith isn't arithmetic. 2nd, the alterations between those that that are nihilistic materialists like atheists and those that view the international as having an clever, religious measurement is taken into consideration one of qualitative not quantitative distinction. third, not all pagans are polytheistic. lots of them are monistic (Plato, Plotinus) or wholistic/pantheist (Spinoza, Hegel, Einstein). If something, non-fundamentalist Christians and Muslims (that's esoteric and mystical variations) may be indistinguishable from pagans. examine The Perennial Philosophy of Aldous Huxley for an in intensity seem.

I don't know what you mean by "close". What are you suggesting? Something more than a conversation,I gather?
Well, the only polytheists I ever knew were Hare Krsnas and although very nice people I never really, you know, bonded or anything. So I guess you're right in a way,but still.

Fa Shizzle! But, Atheist have a rational absolutist view. The absolute Christian view is highly illogical. Logic is kinda sacred to the Atheists, so there is conflict. Plus, Christians keep trying to convert Atheists. Christians hate pagans and mostly vice versa. Pagans can appreciate the logic of Atheists, because most of us twisted logic to our own purposes when seeking a spiritual path. We should all just get drunk and oil each other up.

And what a difference this makes in the eternal point of view though.

This is actually even smaller difference than between a monkey and a human ; )

Like I always say, if monotheism is an improvment over polytheism... then isn't atheism just continuing the pattern of improvement?
