That's a tough one. The US says it's because they want to make sure kids are mature enought to handle alcohol. Yeah, whatever, kids starting drinking at 12 now. I think the UK got it right, there's a lot of respect for booze. In the US, you can vote at 18, you're an adult at 18, you can enlist if you're 18, but yet can't have a beer??? That's so backwards.

Honestly.. I think it would be great if the drinking age was 18.. Considering I'm almost 20 and counting down the days until I'm 21 because all my friends are. But.. look at the people in America and the people in the UK.. Seriously people in the UK are alot more mature then us. They have a drinking age that's 3 years less and they have way less drunk driving accidents, alcoholism problems, alcohol poisoning.. So obviously our government sees this too and that's why its 21.. But I do have one arguement they recently made the age 20 for enlisted military.. I think for them it should be 18.. If you're old enough to die for our country you should be old enough to buy beer.

Yeah it is so better to have the people that would no longer have any reason to drink heavily if it were legal to go out get plastered then plaster themselves or someone else on the road in a drunken rampage. Most of the people I know who get drunk and go do stupid garbage like drive are between 18 and 21 and at 21 nearly all of them stop drinking almost entirely. Thank god we have ignorant lawmakers to protect us from them drinking lightly like they do when its legal.

They think if they keep it away longer then you can make an informed decision. What i think though is by keeping it away they produce alot of under aged lushes and drunks Ever notice places where drinking under the age of 21 or even under 16 is accepted, they have less binging and smarter drinking decisions. My opinion, i am American and my husband is Ukrainian.

i think in america your considered an adult at 18 so if you considered adult why are they trying to hold you back from doing other adult things like the drinking i really think it stupid 2 consider some one an adult but not allow them to choose wheather they can drink or not for another 3 years

Well i think america has a better age limit. I think alcohol is one of the worst drugs there is. It brings out the monster in everyone if you drink too much.
