I have been doing osme researhc and have read up on the programme of action produced the U.N. The multinational narboi protocal, etc. They all suggest differnt measures. What do you think the best way to solve this growing crisis is?

Catch and try the traders in illegal weapons, when found guilty, lock them away for a long, long, long, time! Let future traders know for certain, that the world won't put up with it! Then start prosecuting those who buy such weapons!

Cant be done.
One of the major sources of these weapons is China, and they have Veto power in the UN
And China will not stop the sales- it's a major item of their exports. They arm the Sudanese thugs in Darfur for example, all the sides in Somalia and just about every nut with a few dollars to spare.
Trying to stop the trade has just about the same chances as trying to stop the trade in cocaine, heroin, cannabis or slaves. Too many profits for the UN to meddle.
