Well, if you are not gonna pull much weight it would be a pretty good truck. But I am assuming, since you are talking about a 1 ton truck, you're gonna be working it. The 6.0 is a great engine, until you really load it down. I know a lady who has is on her third, which for a diesel is really bad. Ford is actually sueing International (the manufactures of the motor) because they are loosing so much on warranty repairs. But who knows? You may end up with a good one that will last forever.

Unfortuneately this is the first year of 6.0 production and the ones that seem to have the issues with them. The truck is good and once all the recalls are done on them, they do pretty well in the long run but absolutely no skimping on maintaince.. rule number 1 on this engine... that's where some of the issues come from (but there are still some issues occasionally like head gaskets etc)

Go with the new 2008 Ford Super Duty with the 6.4L Power Stroke Diesel engine instead. It's available in a F-450 dually with a bed.

Not bad. If you can afford it, go with the 6.4 in the new ones. They sound just like a gas engine, once they have started. Very quiet, and very strong engines. It will cost you more money, but check it out and get with me if you want one, I may be able to save you a few bucks.

The transmissions have held up wonderfully!!! However if you are considering buying a 6.0L, I would think twice as they have oil cooler problems, egr cooler problems, ICP problems, and injector problems. Do not use bio-deisel in this vehicle.
