Why do so many car manufacturers advertise their cars as "fun to drive"? (Google it.) Driving is supposed to be a serious procedure, not to be taken lightly. Fun implies enjoyable, amusing, playful or joking, none of which has any place on our highways.

Flying an airplane is serious business, but is great fun just the same. Fun doesn't necessarily imply frivolity but enjoyment. One can be fully focused on a task AND get enjoyment -- fun if you wish -- from it.

Driving through a city traffic jam is anything but "fun." But give me a clean stretch of interstate or a winding country road and I'll have a ball. The fact that I've been accident and conviction free for over 30 years indicates that I must be doing SOMETHING right while I'm having my "fun."

I have fun driving.... I drive a Mack CH-600 tractor trailer at work and although it IS a HUGE RESPONSIBILITY driving in a vehicle that weighs 78,000#'s I enjoy it and have fun.

Would you rather I be tired and angry??? LOL :-D

Seriously, a vehicle should inspire us a little. Fun shouldn't be taken out of context as quite so literal. For me, I feel that fun implies good ergonomics, quality construction, a sound engine with solid torque and reasonable horsepower up top. A good sound system, multiple climate control and basically something to take the drudgery out of our everyday driving tasks.

When one purchases a new car as an adult, it is the closest they get to that feeling of being 4 years old at Christmas again, and life is too short to not get excited about something.

Because they are fun to drive. And dangerous too. So we need to be careful when we drive and not talk on the cell phone, argue with the passengers, or any of the many things we do without giving it a thought. Of course that is the real problem. Doing things on the road without thought. And doing things, like driving, without the proper training. If only everyone was as good of a driver as they thought they were. Just because you have never gotten a ticket does not mean you are a good driver. Because you have never had an accident does not mean that you are a skilled driver. We all need to be able to control our cars and not just let them move us around.
