1/100 = 1%
1%x100=1
.01=1%

1%= 1/100 = one hundreth= one per hundred = 1 per cent.
If you are on a journey of 100 miles and have already travelled one mile, you have completed 1% of the journey and you have 99% to go.
Once you have travelled 25 miles, you have gone 25% which is also a quarter. In the same way 50%= a half. People sometimes say they will go 50/50, they mean half and half.
Agents take ten percent commission; this is they take $10 for every $100 their client makes, and that = one tenth. 10% of $2500 is $250, just take off the last zero. One percent take off two zeros; $25 in the above example.
Percentage is just an easy way to work with parts of something. It divides the thing into a hundred.

Example: My family likes to bet but they do not like to spend a lot of money. Lets say the minimum bet taken by a bookie is $20. I tell them I am happy to spend $10, Mum says will put in $5 and my little brother and sister have $2.50 each. Together we have the $20. I put in (half)50%, mum has (1/4)25% and my little siblings have(1/8)12.5% each.

If the bet wins, we get the same percentage of the winnings as was our contributions. If its a 5:1 pay-out, I collect the $100 from the bookie and its easy to divide: 50 for me, 25 for mum etc. If it was a 100:1 pay out. Total prize would be $2000. I still get half, but now its $1000, Mum get $250, little sister and brother, $125 each.

Question 2; what is 20% of 60
Formula: 20/100 * 60/1 or (20*60)/100
1200/100=12/1=12

20% of 60=12

Question 2
What percentage of cars going by on the road outside are blue?
Answer: Count the next 100 cars to go by, making note of the blue ones. That would be your answer.
But you could save time by counting less or
be more accurate and count more...
As long as you maintain the right percentage.
Count 50 and the double the number of blue ones; or count 200 and halve the number of blue ones.

I hope you are starting to get it.

% means "per cent" or "for every hundredth". The number given to you as a %, indicates a certain number out of 100.

For example, imagine a group of 100 people taking a survey. On one question, 25 people answer (a), 40 people answer (b), 17 people answer (c), and 18 people don't respond at all. The numbers break down like this:

25 people out of 100 answered (a) = 25%
40 people out of 100 answered (b) = 40%
17 people out of 100 answered (c) = 17%
18 people out of 100 didn't respond= 18%

Percentages are easily turned into decimals (and back again). Remember that two spots to the right of a decimal is the hundreds place, ok? All you have to do is eliminate the decimal point at the front, and replace it with a % sign at the back. For example: .35=35% and .15=15% and 2.75=275%

Fractions are quickly turned into decimals, which can be converted to percentages:

The number on top of a fraction is the NUMERATOR. The number on the bottom is the DENOMINATOR. Grab a calculator, and divide the numerator by the denominator: you will get a decimal. Then convert the decimal into a percentage. Like this:

3/4 = (3 divided by 4) = .75 = 75%

Hey, this is an odd question for R&S, but I hoped the answer helped.

okay. 100% of something is all of it.So if you have 100% of a candy bar, you have 1 candy bar. If you have 1/2 candy bar you have 50%. To find a percent, just divide a fraction. For example: 3/20 of something. You divide 3 by 20 to get 0.15 You then move the decimal 2 places to the right and get 15. that is your percent so 3/20= 15% practice with these problems then look at the answers I will include.

1. 1/5
2. 1/2
3. 3/10
4. 17/100

Answers:
1. 20%
2. 50%
3. 30%
4. 17%

Hope that helps

% = percent = per cent = by cent = by one hundred

in a road if you see a sign 5% it means that by every 100 meters/yards you go forward you climb 5 meters/yards, imagine this with a triangle

usually at discount/taxes is a small mathematical operation you have to do. So, take for instance 12% discount of 234 €/$
you just have to do something like
100% - 234€
12% - ?

? = 234x12/100 = 28,08 € - the discount amount
so the final result 234€ - 28,08€ = 205,92€

it becomes easier with experience, just multiply the first 2 numbers then play with the decimal

if 100 is a whole
then a portion of that would be the percentage

so if we have 100 people and 75 were Christian .... that would leave 25 % non Christian

so even if there were 33, 000 people ... this would still be the whole ... the 100 %

A percent is part of a whole. Part of 100. So, if you have a cake and you cut it into 100 pieces, and you eat 5 of those pieces, you have eaten 5% of the cake. So, if you are at a sale and the dress is $70.00, each dollar is a whole. So let's say it is 25% off of the dress. You would multiply

70X.25=17.50

So, 17.50 off of the $70.00 dress.

So, to find the new price of the dress you would:

70.00-17.50=52.50.

10 % of a 100 is 10.

10 % is the same as (.1).

10% = .1

.1 X 100 = 10

.1(100)= 10

% as you know is percentage.
percentages are always normally out of 100.
so 1% is 1 out of 100.
25% would be 25 out of 100. or 1/4
50% would be 50 out of 100. or 1/2
etc etc.
hope this made it easier 4 ya.

The easiest way to think of it is as money. One dollar bill is worth 100 pennies...or "cents".

10 cents is 10% of a dollar
20 cents is 20% of a dollar
and so forth.
